It does make me wonder. If we wanted Atkinson we could have already hired him.

If Dantoni goes with the Pacers, what are the 6ers waiting on? They obviously had a lot of interest in Lue, you would think they would be immediately interested in Donovan as well.

I'm going to go here even though I hate doing so: if Pacers hire MDA, 6ers hire Donovan, and the Bulls hire, say, Craig, before we make a hire...the pressure will be MASSIVE to make a minority hire. And the best candidate for the job may be a minority candidate as there are a lot of super qualified guys that would do great. I'm just saying it will start to get really loud.

Maybe this will happen maybe not. All I know is our last two coaches have been black, and our last two GM's have been black (Demps was more autonomous of a role than Langdon, but Langdon has more overall support).

If we hire a white HC and get any kind of outrage about this outside of firstake bitching for like a day, then I'd be a little surprised. And I think Griffin is more than capable of addressing that criticism. Hopefully he doesn't let skin color play a deciding factor in who the best candidate for this job is.

We would be way better under him than we were under Alvin. Not sure if our personnel is right but we’d see more creativity.

MDA is notorious for not making adjustments and in the last few years has moved into the “ball movement and screening are bad” for the offense.

Hard pass.

We could do a lot worse, he took 3 teams with different styles of offense showcasing a small pg, a sf, and a combo guard.

Only melo couldn't take a mike D'antoni team to the conference finals. I just wish he was younger.

I'm not crazy about hiring him because he's too old, but he'll play to BI and Zions strengths and hopefully Pels find a pg to run the offense.

I kind of think he can be a Doug Collins Bulls era hire, be that bridge coach to the one that gets you titles, and if he can get a couple of deep playoff runs with a young Zion before he hits his prime then it'll attract a frickton of talent here player and coach wise.

In New Orleans? I haven't seen that besides KOC. I've seen a ton of chatter that he will be in Indy.

I really think the Pels are waiting for Lue. Griff has hired him before, he reportedly wanted to hire him in season this year, the Pels talked to him in the bubble and it came out that he's looking for a more contention level job.

That's a lot of interest in Lue by the Pels and one of his contention level options has already fallen through in Brooklyn.

I kind of think the same.

They want Lue. Griffin even let it slip that their candidates were "in bubble" before walking that back. They've already met with him and were immediately linked to him when they fired Gentry. He's already been a HC with championship level experience, has worked under some good coaches, and a lot of players have come out in support of him big time.

I think Lue is choice #1 for Griffin. They want to see what he does first before moving on to other candidates.

If they wanted MDA or Atkinson or Donovan or an assistant on a team out of the bubble, they could have already hired them.

It's really the only logical conclusion at this point.

I think a few teams are waiting on Lue. the 76ers probably want him too. Maybe even Houston. He's a big domino to fall.

And as Crewz said today, let's be real. Some teams are waiting on a minority to be hired so they can go ahead and hire a white guy.

I don't get the Lue hate.

He isn't the sexy up and coming pick that people are pegging to be the next Spoelstra or Nurse, but idk why people think he is a legitimately shitty coach. All of the evidence we have is that he's a competent coach that holds players accountable.

I'm not on the Lue train but I wouldn't piss and moan if that was the hire.

He took some massive heat in the last days of that Cavs run, and there are a TON of very famous gifs that make him look clueless. Everyone just assumed he was Lebron's Yes man and LeMao was the actual coach of that team.

It is hard to shake that perception. In recent years, its come to light just how good of a coach he is and how little of shite he took from Bron. That could be his agent spinning things and revisionist history, or it could be the actual truth.

I thought Lue was well out of our price range, especially if we're getting into a bidding war with Philly and maybe even Houston?

Does his price come down if he misses all the other jobs? Also, considering how tight lipped the team has been, that budget number that came out was way too specific and similar to Gentry’s pay. I think it was just speculation.

It could be another team leaking it, or even an agent trying to set a floor of salaries.
