re: Anyone willing to admit drafting Zion was a mistake?

I do wish the basketball gods would have given the Pels #2 so they would have been FORCED to pick Ja. Everything equal....Ja, CJ, BI, Herb (or Trey) and Jonas. That would have been great. But we got Zion like anyone in the world would have done with the #1 pick. Stuck with him now. So what are we gonna do...

Zion had the medical red flags at draft time
I’m not sure about a red flag, maybe a cautionary yellow. Point being Zion feels he’s most effective (and he is very effective when he plays) North of 280lbs. Pels and Zion gave it a 4 year trial and the results are plain. Ownership, Front Office, and coaches need more leverage in terms of player conditioning tailored to their play style. Zion should not play significant minutes North of 270lbs. Period.

Unless he drops to about 230 lbs he will never make it a full season.
He will never get that low. But 255-260 is definitely doable and should in theory really help the guy.

Yeah thats a lesson learned for Ja and he will be right back.....meanwhile in NOLA....damn Z missing most the season AGAIN! You can fix the thing Ja did. You cant fix injury prone.

Ja is a good player. Zion is generational. I'll take my chances every time on the generational player for a franchise like ours.

We would discover that he is the NOLA East I-10 sniper

Zion was arguably the most unanimous #1 pick since LeBron. Not a chance any front office passes on him. 0.00% chance he's not taken first in that draft no matter who is drafting.

I'm not sure what's funny about 230 lbs. The only people close to Zion's weight are 7 foot tall dudes. The body can't handle the impact at his size, so he will always be hurt until he drops weight.

Generational bench warmer. Print the shirts.

That certainly may be the reason why he always has injuries, but it is also the reason why it's not realistic to think he can get to 230.

Careful. You might hurt some feelings on this board but yes we should have drafted Garland or the other Duke guy Barrett

This is beating a dead horse. People just don't understand body types and weight. Zion can easily get down to the 230s and still be super powerful.
There is a point though of mass equaling power. His mass does make him more powerful. It's super unique that he can carry it so well. It's just a proven fact that he cannot play at that size for substantial periods of time.

Good god, the I’m not the grammar police, but most unanimous?
Also, AD was.

Drafting him wasn't the mistake, Zion is the mistake!

MKG went #2 in the draft. No one consider even remotely as the top guy.

I was probably arguing something different, less so unanimous pick and more so the most sure fire stud/generational type player. I'd definitely argue that was Zion over AD for that moniker.
