Stop comparing him to Joel. Emblid was not the #1 overall pick and an alleged once in a decade generational player when he went Pro.
Zion looks more like a fat slob 22 year old generational injury bust. The guy banked 150 million with endorsements and salary while giving a perception that he could give a shite.

He was before he got hurt in college. Everyone knew he was better than Wiggins.

There is exactly a 0% chance that poster had any clue that Embiid was injured and went through surgery right before the draft.

Embiid fell in the draft due to a stress fracture. He had a good chance to go #1 overall prior to the injury since Wiggins and Parker had flaws in their game.

Zion didn't have any red flags going into the draft. Dude never had a major injury before or weight issues at the time. Everything came easy for him until he got to the league and for some reason everything changed.

I can understand people's frustrations since he got to the league but everything leading up to the draft was flawless for him.

Nothing to admit, I said before the draft I would not take him at #1.

I’m just hoping he gets healthy since he will be on the team for awhile.

Being 290 lbs at 6'6" when only one other player in NBA history was successful at close to that size is a red flag. Any training staff with intelligence should have known he couldn't keep it together.

The mistake was trading the 4th pick for Jax and NAW. We could've had Darius Garland.

Barkley, and even he had to get to 250 fast to be effective

Barkley cared and wanted to be the best he could.
Zion is a soft 22 year old fat slob that has been given over 150 million in salary and endorsements who does not give a shite.

This might be true. For whatever reason he hasn't gotten it through his head that he needs to take peak care of his body, so over the top stretching and recovery and getting to an ideal size.

I'll never forget his debut season when he was jogging up the court like a T-Rex and pouring sweat out of his body after four minutes on the court.

USAToday - DAN WOLKEN Opinion: Here's how Zion Williamson could go wrong in the NBA

This is the second article when I googled “Zion draft risk”…the first was a fantasy draft article about this year. Interesting read…particularly the parts about trading for AD, and not diving out of bounds in New Orleans on a Tuesday.

***I still think he was an obvious #1 pick and has a chance to be an MVP but needs to get serious about his health and maintaining his body, but the team needs to get him a decent backup and more shooting.

Unless he drops to about 230 lbs he will never make it a full season.

he can't shoot.

I'd like to see him play at 230 though.

Imagine that from a 19-20 year old greatest generational player since LeBron too. Guy turned out to be a total overhyped fat lazy slob.

i dont say injury prone.
i do say immature and not well guided.

by now, after the few injuries, he should be looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger at his Mr Olympia win over the hulk.

he should be an expert on cj stretches and nutrition and how the body functions.
he didn't learn anything.
he's a child in a wwe body.

we've all been betrayed.
he's not even been able to learn a couple of traditional shooting forms that forwards usually can do in pro basketball.
he's had leg injuries that prevented him from doing the shots he needs to master.

he hasn't had a chance to work on his game enough.

the comparison to morant isn't over. they are forever tied in the same way MJ is known as 3rd taken his year.

it remains to be seen if either of Ja and zion reach their ceiling.
but at this juncture Morant has improved something a bit every season.
so he's still on track.
he's now sometimes able to hit a couple 3s in a row.
his ft is still awful.
his mid range is now ok.
from day1 his work in the lane is Derrick rose level excellence. that's the bread and butter for now.

Maybe, maybe not. If Ja doesn't want to change, you can't fix it.

Players can have a bad run of a couple of seasons then have good injury luck.
