What I got from the Griff presser:
Griff went out of his way not to do a laundry list of things they're looking for so it didn't look like he was bagging on Uncle Al. But one specific coaching skill he did talk about was "engendering player buy in" and he also said that "Won't Bow Down wasn't a marketing slogan."
Combine that with him wanting someone that "shared their vision of the team" (ie not looking for someone to bring in a new system) and the fact that he feels a lot of the assistants will be able to stay, and I'd say Griff wants someone with leadership and motivation as their strongest skill.
I don't think that gets us any closer to coming up with a short list, but it should please the long time Gentry sufferers that correcting his biggest deficiency seems to be at the top of the list.

Ime Udoka being that high is SUPER interesting.
I mentioned him last night but I really thought he’s get the Bulls job.
People love him. And he’s good with D.

I wonder how often insiders clean up on this type of thing where they have the opportunity to make a bet a few minutes/hours before anything is public.

That could be a mandate from Benson. Paying Gentry and a new coach this year on top or losing revenue due to no fans in the arena. Could have said fine get a new coach but i’m not paying for an entire new staff also.

Ty Lue looms large for contenders in the coaching marketplace – with the possibility of an additional championship asset on his staff: Chauncey Billups.

He didn't say that specifically, but I took the "shares their vision" to mean Griff will be deciding or at least approving what system is run.
Fletch dropped an article a few days ago suggesting Gentry would be fired because "Alvin Gentry is a convert, David Griffin needs a true believer". LINK
In the article it talked about Gentry not being a fan of management being so hands on or Griff selling snake oil.
quote:
Don’t get me wrong, or misinterpret my words, Gentry is on board with what Griff is doing -- and Gentry angled for Griffin to get the job last year. But as a survivor who's had to adjust and adapt time and time again during his long career, he’s more of a convert than someone who’s been indoctrinated into a certain belief structure since day one.
I’m not sure Gentry ever felt comfortable with Griffin touting Jrue Holiday as an MVP candidate.
I’m not sure Gentry and his staff feel comfortable with management being so hands on and cozy with players.

I mean, I also think that our assistants are good. I really don't blame Bzdelik for our poor defense. Bzdelik can't really hold players accountable for effort, which was the biggest problem.

What's wrong with our current assistant coaches?
Vinson is the best shooting coach in the NBA.
Bzdelik is a highly regarded defensive coach, but he is old and may just retire anyway.

Was Alvin fired or relived of his duties?
Think it’s interesting all the reports say relieved of duties in regards to Alvin but fires when talking about the Bulls coach.

know we hated on Al a lot but he’s a great dude and it must have sucked to have had to fire him.

I think Gentry's contract is expired, but I'm not sure.

"Relieved of his duties" is just a fancy way to say "fired."
Gentry had a year left on his contract. He was fired.
