Still a dumb trade but as has already been said, I’d take Queen of this year’s 8th. It’s a deep draft but I think Queen can be a star in the league.

I guarantee that pick would be in the top 5 had we not had Queen this year.

they were bad even before tanking. They were playing all their players and trying for half the season.

That's such a false claim. They were holding everyone with minor injury literaly from the 10-15 game of the season and as Duyp said, Carlisle was subbing out the starters even in close games.

The timing of the Pacers trade was bad, the no protection of Hawks trade was bad, but we wouldn't have had two top 5 picks this year if we hadn't make the trades.

I wonder if people have finally figured out that what happened today was easily the most likely result of the lottery.

Could have had Fears and a top 5 and top 10 pick to jump start the rebuild. But instead it looks like they’re running it back.

Could’ve had Steph and Klay for CP3 (CP3 declined extension with warrriors)
Could’ve built around AD and Boogie (Achilles)
Could’ve had a team with Dejounte CJ Herb Trey Ingram and Zion. (injuries)
Once this board figures out that the NBA is luck and politics driven then they’ll understand

Exactly. This thread is bizarre.

The same people claiming the Indy pick wouldn't have landed at #5 overall if they didnt have their own pick, are ignoring the fact that we would have had a major incentive to tank, if we hadn't traded our unprotected first to Atlanta.

So maybe the Indy pick would've been around 8-10 instead, but ours almost certainly would've been a top 5 pick, so you ended up in the same place.

Maybe yall think more of Queen than most scouts/fans/pundits do, but that's because you root for this team and want him to succeed. Those picks would've been much more valuable for this franchise, if we had a competent front office running things.

They weren't going to tank under Dumars. He's made that very clear.. so don't expect them to do while he's here.

Let’s not forget Dumars double downed on not trading Zion either.

quote:

Joe Dumars wants Zion Williamson to remain with the team for the foreseeable future. A day after Williamson said he wants to remain a Pelican, Dumars doubled down, saying the feelings are mutual. The former player turned executive turned down any idea of trading Williamson this summer.

quote:

We have no intentions of doing that,” Dumars said. “We are going into the offseason looking forward to Zion coming back next year and playing great again next year.”

Take the backseat Queen.
