It’s starting to feel like one of two things could be happening:
First, perhaps our early morning takes were accurate, and that with KD and Klay injuries, our leverage increased, prompting Ainge to leak indecision in an effort to gain back lost leverage.
The other possibility is that there are no other legit trade partners besides the two discussed ad nauseam, and Ainge knows we don’t like the LA offer. So he leaks indecision to call our bluff so as to be able to shrink his own offer as much as possible before pulling the trigger.
What appears clear is that the injuries did in fact change the landscape. Whether it works to our advantage or not is yet to be seen.
As an aside, there’s a thread on the MSB suggesting bad blood between KD and GS, and that they knew an Achilles injury was possible and played him anyway because they knew they weren’t re-signing him regardless. TIFWIW.

We may like the Celtics deal more but that’s only if we can get Tatum. We’ll just easily say no to him and go with LA. His leverage is pretty weak

Yeah if Ainge isn’t including Tatum it’s a non-starter.
I think Griffin just isn’t being blown away by any offers. And he has no problem waiting at least until the draft if he isn’t.

I agree and have to think he knows that no Tatum is a nonstarter. It would have to be about leverage specific to the other pieces being discussed (Brown and/or picks?).
Who else might have leaked it and for what purpose?
FTR, I’m not claiming to know the answer. Genuinely curious about this.

Chances of a trade happening today are extremely negligible. Or this weekend for that matter.

Yea, no Tatum means no Boston deal. Then we just rape the Lakers. If they play hardball and try to hold pieces out, I see what’s it like to have a Zion AD front court. Maybe sign Brogden, trade off Hill at the deadline for a vet 3&D and go all Raptors on that arse next year.

I would have so many mixed feelings about this.
I love the idea of sabotaging LA/LeCount/Kluth/RP, but my season tickets don’t seem nearly as appealing if the team I’m cheering for has AD on it next year.
I guess I’d get over it if they successfully replicated what Toronto did this year.
