Yeah we might be able to snag a guy at the deadline for one of our guards i.e. Thornton for Carl Landry if we’re really struggling there.

Considering where the league has been heading, we should be fine going small. But it’s definitely gonna suck if and when Zion gets hurt for any stretch.

Ingram, Naji and Murphy should be fine defensively against most backup 4s, but the occasionally big boy we’ll just have to play matchups and run double C’s.

I'm hoping for some confident PF Hayes.

Marshall did well against Patrick Williams who is a prototypical PF and he didn't get pushed around even when Williams tried to be physical.

I feel a hell of a lot more optimistic this season than last year when we literally had Hart and Melli as options for the majority of the season.

We have no back up PF. We will have to go "small" again. Put a 6'5 Hart or a 200LB Murphy in the spot. Ingram will probably play 20mpg at PF as well. I can't see Hayes playing more than 2-3mpg with either Val or Hernangomez. Not the ideal situation.

I am absolutely all about Jaxson Hayes at PF. He proved at the end of last season that he can play decent perimeter defense, and I expect that to improve.

But I also expect BI to add about five more pounds and be even more comfortable playing PF. BI added a few pounds last offseason, and I think he'll gain a few more.

It will also be interesting to see how quickly Trey Murphy develops as an interior defender -- he played extremely well against Evan Mobley in that summer league game.

And, of course, Hart and Naji can play PF in a pinch.

I think Hayes will be fine at the 4. If he has shown anything this offseason, it’s that he won’t get pushed around.

You want to pair Hayes with Val or Hernangomez? Why? What is the benefit?

I like Zion playing Center. I want him to play 15-20mpg there. It causes huge matchup issues for other teams. I guess Marshall or Murphy and Ingram will be running those units with him. Just not a lot of depth there..

On the defensive end, Hayes proved that he’ll protect the house and won’t get pushed around. On the other end, I think the only people we need to worry about locking Hayes up are in L.A.

This team is Sooo much better to handle and sustain injuries. Even if Zion misses, we can still win games. The bench will be a STRENGTH this year. We counted on Reddick and Meli like someone earlier said.... and still won 31 games with injuries. We will be fine this year.

Memphis has agreed to trade forward Juancho Hernangomez to Boston for guards Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards and a 2026 second-round pick swap, sources tell ESPN.

That is insane. If Zion is out, we are possibly the worst team in the league. The bench is paper thin, especially in the front court. There is no one to take Zions place. We will have to play Ingram or Hart at PF. Hayes is too stiff and Murphy too light..

Bro nobody can take Zion’s place. We’ll just start BI at the 4 and we got plenty of 3s. Other than PF we got a ton of depth. We can piece it together with BI, Murphy and Naji all being big enough to play both spots.

Upon formal completion of a buyout with the Detroit Pistons, center DeAndre Jordan intends to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN. Jordan would have to first clear waivers to become a free agent.

So Woj reported Jordan already had talks with the Lakers while still officially on the Pistons.

Can't wait for the investigation the NBA will start for this!

Does anyone else think the Lakers are going to be remarkably bad or is that just me?

Remarkably bad is a 30 win non playoff team. It's probably just you. But I sure as shite hope you're right and I'm wrong.

There is definitely a scenario where what we saw last year with Lebron's health is closer to the new norm than an aberration.

The guy is quickly approaching more miles on his body than any NBA player in history, and arguably when you add in international play he's almost there. Take into context how he has been used in those minutes vs the guys in front of him? And he's approaching uncharted territory, if not already there.

Then consider AD's track record, and the larger track record of guys in his mold(lengthy high usage big men playing above the rim and around or above 7 feet), and its also not inconceivable he struggles more and more going forward. Its doubtful both happen, and happen next season, but one or the other is probably closer to 50/50 than the narratives presume.

I just watched a clip on the Ringer (LINK where they were talking about the Wizards and Beal. They came up with an idea I had never considered..

What if the Wizards keep Beal and then grab another star, like Lillard?

I looked at their payroll and they have tons of assets (LINK If the Blazers had to trade Lillard, local guys like Kispert and Hachimura might be nice pieces to bring back home (they also have Avdija). Plus they have all these other contracts that can help facilitate a deal. KCP, Kuzma, Harrell, Bertans, even Bryant..

I was playing with a 3 team trade, to get Love to Portland (Love is refusing a buy out) along with all the other pieces. I came up with..

Wizards receive Lillard and Covington.

Cavs receive Bertans, Bryant and Advija.

Blazers receive Kuzma, Love, Hachimura, Kispert, 2 Wiz 1sts (25, 27), 2 Wiz swaps (22,24) and Cavs 22 1st (lottery protected).

I kind of like it. If I'm the Blazers, I prefer that over Simmons and smaller pieces. Lillard and Beal is an interesting combo. Could they challenge for a top 3 seed in the East?

So the blazers give up Dame AND RoCo and get back a bunch of mediocre pieces? Oh and we get saddled with Love? No thanks.

I do like Rui though but not as the headliner for Dame.

You know the team a lot better than I do. So I get your point. You are never going to get a Superstar back for Lillard though, unless you consider Simmons a Superstar. The trade would solve a lot of their issues (no forward depth). I heard that Covington could possibly lose his starting spot to Nance, who was a really nice pick-up.

I guess the depth chart would look something like.

McCollum/Simons
Powell/McLemore
Kuzma/Kispert
Hachimura/Nance
Nurkic/Love

Not a bad team. I think the Blazers are projected 6-7 seed. That team could possibly still do that.

They could do another deal with the Wizards, where they bottom out and just get pieces (minus Love). Something like..

Blazers receive Kuzma, Harrell, Bryant, Hachimura, Kispert and picks.

Wiz receive Lillard.

Bad part is the Wiz traded their 23 pick. So they can't trade 22 and 24, right? Have to wait to 25. So not a ton of picks they can throw in..
