Is it doable? I think we would realistically have to go 30-10 to even have a shot.

That’s puts us at 40-42. Might get us in.

Eta: We have the 6th hardest remaining SOS. Oof.

Hope not.

Getting bounced in the play-in does nothing for us.

I put $10 on the Pels to make the play in last week. payout would be $1,100.

with that being said... I would still rather blow it all up.... the unfortunate reality is that the New Orleans Pelicans will take a backseat to the Super Bowl.

Nothing will happen this season because of injuries and the FACT that all real movers and shakers in NO will be pre-occupied with SB59, which is post nba trade deadline

We basically have had this same exact thread for 6 straight seasons in the Zion and Griff era (minus 1 year)

Which tells you it is time to blow it up and move on from most team employees (players, coaches and front office staff)

Play-in is probably out of reach. But I'm starting to wonder if Geiff sees the tank slipping away and makes a surprise buyer move, to build momentum going into next season. Like... Zach Lavine. With CJ and BI going out. Unlikely and yea the financial and lotto ramifications. But man, that would be a fun addition to the core.

Lavine and Dejounte even have ties going back to being stars from Seattle.

You go 30-10 over the next 40 games and you are absolutley winning the play in.

That would mean Zion, BI, Murray, Murphy, Herb, and CJ are all playing most of the games over the next 40.

I said it before and ill say it again, the Pelicans are ALOT closer to what you have above or Booker, than selecting Harper / Flagg / Bailey.

That's assuming the 10th seed goes .500 or less the rest of the way. Yea that's probably not likely especially after the break with 12 team at or near .500.

The Pelicans are playing a soft schedule right now so some wins should be expected. The Pelicans have never come anywhere near 30-10 before in this era, so why would you expect it to happen now?

Lavine is having a nice year, and i've been saying for a while now that I think he would be a really good replacement for BI to play with Zion.

He shoots a ton of 3's, and he's damn good at it, and he's been damn good at it for his entire 11 year career. He can get his own shot off from anywhere on the court. He's actually a really good 1 on 1 defender when he wants to be.
Murray/Herb/Trey/Lavine/Zion is a super long and active hands small ball lineup. At end of games, if Zion uses his body to block out the opposing teams big and the other 4 guys gang rebound, that's a lineup that would be incredibly difficult to matchup with, on both ends of the court (outside of Jokic/Embiid, maybe AD)

No I do not like his contract, and his injury history isnt' great, but when you think about guys you want to see next to Zion, Lavine is a really good fit.

I'd have no problem moving CJ/BI for Lavine. That's something Jake talked about on his podcast a few days ago.

I could get behind this. Lavine would fit next to Zion very well if they actually run action together. BI and Z never ran actions and it was so frustrating. No other team doesn’t run action with their top 2 players like we do. We just really fricked up the BI situation, I don’t know why a team like the Bulls would want to acquire him when his contract is up.

That doesn't mean it's a guarantee we win two games in a row. And even then, only to get bounced by a 1 seed in the first round.

It does nothing for us.

I think they would view it as a S&T candidate in the offseason, or just lose him for nothing and start the rebuild. And if they did view him that way, then they certainly wouldn't give up any 1sts in the trade. They'd basically view him as an expiring contract that they might be able to pull assets out of in the offseason.

Probably, but it would reignite the fanbase in a big way and give us a ton of leverage in any zion offseason trade if the Pels pulled off the miracle of making the actual playoffs with Zion in it

I'm not a Zion fan anymore, but if this fat frick is playing like he has these past few games the team is much more watchable and guys like Murray cj and Trey will ball out. We would be one of the most annoyingly good 8 seeds ever lol

Depending on what other pieces are involved, the Bulls may see it as clearing cap space for a rebuild.

BI’s gone this offseason. LaVine still has $46m next year and a $49m PO to come.

Combine Alonzo’s contract expiring this offseason and Vucevic’s deal expiring the next offseason and they potentially can clear their books with the right deals.

Agree to disagree.

Keeping this exact roster through ANOTHER season, letting BI walk, and not trading CJ when his value is high would make me lose even more hope for this team.

The season is lost and we definitely aren't winning a championship. The mindset of "reignite the fanbase" is beyond stupid.

I'd rather one day cheer for a winning successful franchise > reginite a fake happiness that actually hurts our team for the future.

I don't support instant gratification that has a negative long term result.

With all due respect successful teams and bright futures "ignite fanbases"

What your describing is "keeping mouth breathers in seats" or "ignorance is bliss"

Absolutely would.
