I went to see Led Zeppelin at the Assembly Center in 1975 during their heyday. Started partying early and got to the Assembly Center about 30 minutes before the show. Decided to sit inside the concourse area and rest a few minutes because I was pretty loaded.
Woke up and everyone was leaving with a happy look of amazement on their faces. The concert was over and I had slept through it.
I still have never seen Led Zeppelin live and am kicking myself to this day.
Anyone have a worse experience or shall I say non-experience ?

Saw the free showcase for Hootie and The Blowfish at the Varsity back in the early 90s just before they hit big. 3 or 4 songs was all we could take; hot footed it outta there.

I would never have figured they would have any success. But I've come to understand that betting against the general public having decent taste is almost always a sure thing.

Dylan at Audubon Zoo 1986ish. It could have been any one of you in a sombrero and I would not have known the difference.

Tool 2007 was hard to stay awake. Boring, lifeless performance from the band, crowd was dead too.

moe., 1997, House Of Blues at Myrtle Beach. First set was great. We went outside during setbreak (security was pretty lax that night, since it wasn't the biggest crowd), walked down to the pier area, someone passed me a blunt, so I took a few puffs.

Next thing I remember, I was wandering around outside staggering, and I fell off a loading dock and shattered my glasses & cut myself up pretty badly. Somehow I was also covered in mud (apparently it was raining hard by this point, even though I don't remember when it started, lol), and I looked so raggedy that I figured they weren't gonna let me back inside even if I wanted to, so I started walking to the hotel. At least four different times, heavy winds swept me off my feet, landing myself into mud puddles. Got back to my room, and noticed my money was gone from my wallet. I don't know WTF was in that blunt, but I never experienced such a 180 before, and I suppose I'm glad I didn't get run over by a car on the way to the hotel

PCP would be my bet. Smoked a joint laced with PCP once at a party, and had a similar reaction. Was awful.

Bought a ticket for the Wu Tang Clan in Reno, NV in 2003. I figured not many members would be there, but I was hoping for a decent show.

Show was supposed to start at 8. Sound system wouldn't connect to turntables. To kill time, they let random people from the crowd come on the stage and freestyle on a mic connected to a boombox. Finally, after about 90 minutes, they gave up and just plugged a CD player into the boombox.

So, the "Wu Tang Clan" comes out, and the only person who was arguably actually a Wu Tang member was Cappadonna. Zero other members, just two guys I've never heard of before or since.

About 5 minutes in, some of Cappadonna's entourage got in a fight with some fans up front. Cappadonna jumped off the stage to join in. Someone got beaten really bad and carried out bloody and unconscious. Cappadonna jumped back on stage, cursed out the crowd, flipped double birds and left the stage. His shirt was soaked in blood.

The two no name guys kept going and Cappadonna never came back. My friend also got really hammered and pooped his pants. He didn't want to leave, so I just went home myself after about 15 minutes of the two randos rapping over a CD player hooked to a boombox.

I mean, I didn't have high expectations because Wu Tang tickets were on sale for $10, but I feel like they should have paid me in hindsight.

Someone else suggested the same thing too, but since I've never actively sought for it before or since, I have no reference point for comparison, lol...it was definitely a harsh experience 'tho. What's the upside? Seems pretty extreme to me

When I got back to the hotel, it dawned on me that I'd left my buddy at the show...but no more than five minutes later, he stumbled through the front door with a similar story of frickery

Missed LZ in 75? Whew that's gotta suck.

In 1994 in Telluride for Bluegrass Festival I had agreed to take someone's shift at directing parking for a few bucks. We were all hanging out at someone's house. The guy left and all the sudden I got the most gut wrenching hershy squirts and vomiting, sick as a dog and barely made it back to my tent to pass out after that bout.

My friend had to go find the guy and give him the news that I couldnt work.

We were in college, and later that night he got back to what he thought was his bed and unleashed vomit and diarrhea all over the bed.

Turned out it was actually his roommates room and he sprayed the wrong bed.

That reminds me of when this crazy kid that was allergic to alcohol or something and it wold only take a little before the "lights are on but nobody's home" and belligerent.

We managed to get him to sleep in my bed in our fraternity house which he wasn't even a member. Well he woke up at some point in the night not knowing where he was and went apeshit and destroyed the room. Now I want to remember his name but can't.

Most of my bad concert experiences are either me or one of my friends getting way too fricked up.

Last time i saw the dead in 1995 at giants stadium, my friends and i had seats on the floor about 10 rows back from jerry. We had consumed numerous psychedelics by the time bob dylan took the stage in his shiny silver suit. Dead came on, 3 songs in(ramble on rose) my friend looks at me and says hes gonna die, his eyes immediately go white and he passes out. I catch him as hes falling and put him in a chair. Inside im freaking out because i know i hate twice as much as he did. One of my friends was sober and got the usher, who put my friend on his shoulder and carried him probably 60-70 yards to the back of giants stadium to where the infirmary was set up. I had 4 or 5 friends go to the talk down tent that show.

Another harrowing experience was post-show phish nye at msg in 1997. My friends and i were sitting in our seats gathering ourselves together before we had to take the train home. We hear some babbling coming from behind us at the top of our section. Theres this naked wook chick hollering incoherent things just acting crazy, she was probably 20 rows above us in the aisle. All of a sudden she throws her arms behind her like shes on a diving board and does a swan dive down the aisle and lands with a thud right next to our row. All i heard was bone crunching and screaming. Luckily for her, the people next to us were med students from upenn and helped her. Crazy shite.

It wasn't a bad experience because we got hammered and made it fun, but the worst concert performance I've ever heard was Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan at some minor league baseball park in Memphis. The acoustics were horrible. Willie's nasally whine was so far out of tune with the band it was like they were playing 2 different songs. Then Dylan came on. When you could hear his voice at all, which wasn't often, it sounded like what I imagine a bronchitis afflicted bullfrog getting sodomised sounds like. The only good thing was neither of them played very long. Which was probably due to the mass exodus of people that started 15 minutes into the bullfrog butt raping.

You can always count on people walking out of a Dylan show. Cracks me up every time. I think he does it on purpose.
