Me. I bought their first three albums as imports before they were readily available in record stores.

I paid $90 to see them in 1992. It was a huge amount of money for my 18 year old self. They were my girlfriend’s favorite band.
It was whichever album tour had Achtung Baby. Long time ago but I remember the show was solid but nothing earth shattering

The Joshua Tree changed my life. I was 16 when it came out. Before that, I listened to a lot of Top 40. That record got me in to listening to classic rock, reading music magazines, kind of changed my politics. I have a soft spot for U2, even though I like to rag on them. (I’m an unabashed fan of Rattle and Hum). I saw them on the Joshua Tree anniversary tour and it was a fricking emotional experience. Some things can’t fade, no matter how many dud albums they release — including the one they forced on everyone’s iPhone

Like most bands the early stuff was best

Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum were good/great.
Bono does not help.

I listened to them from about age 15 (War) until about 32 (All That You Can't Leave Behind), but it got harder after that. Rarely find myself wanting to give an old album a listen. Hasn't aged well for me, but that's happened for quite a few bands.

I was the right age. I liked U2 from War through Achtung Baby, although it was starting to slip at Rattle and Hum.
Bono's ego kind of ate the reality that this was a really solid band with some great songs.

They really didn't suck until Pop. I remember getting that one when it came out and thinking they had lost their damn minds.

I was indifferent to them before they put that crap album on everyones phone without us asking for it. I can't stand them since
They should be strung up for that

yes i very much loved u2, its a bummer when they insert poltics

Boy/October/War. Yes, I liked them. After that, it was like totally different sound and song writing. That is where my "I don't like U2." came from. I still listen to Gloria a lot. That anyone who likes their first 3 can also like The Joshua Tree, is weird to me. I hate those songs so much.

I loved U2 and still do. Stopped listening after Achtung Baby though. Most of the hate comes from Bono’s bloated ego. You can’t argue that they are one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

I tapped out after War.
I think it was too long a gap between War and The Unforgettable Fire.
I think in those three or four years I became a complete metal head.

and Drowning Man on War is such a good song

I guess I like U2. They have about 6-8 songs that I’ve always loved, which is a lot for one band.

Liked a few if their songs in my college days, not a lot since. The more Bono speaks, the less you like him.

quote:what other reason would there be? They are terrible and have always been terrible
If you have always disliked their music that’s a good reason

I loved U2 in the early to mid 80s. Not so much after.
New Years Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday are two of my favorite songs of all time.
