I just learned that “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” was *NOT* Elvis and was in fact Queen

Ib4: listen, I googled it and by all my efforts, that’s the case... if I’m wrong, I’ll gladly concede... but the topic persists.

ETA: Share the song and who you THOUGHT it was and who it really is

The answer to this is always Bobby Caldwell.

Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again by the Fortunes sounds like a Frankie Valli song.

I thought Rick Astley was black before I saw the video.

“Dirty Work” by Steely Dan. Does not have their typical Donald Fagen sound...

"Diamond in The Back" by Curtis Mayfield is actually called "Be Thankful for What You Got" by William DeVaughan.

I always scratch my head when I hear Lay Lady Lay. I simply cannot believe it is Bob Dylan.

I heard Planet Caravan a couple of times before I realized it was Sabbath.

“Second Chance” by 38 Special. Over all the years I had heard that song I had no idea it was them. Doesn’t sound like them at all.

I heard this song a dozen times on the radio when it came out before I found out it was the Beach Boys.

I was a fan of the band early on, had some tapes, and saw them in concert.

Just learned from your post that they did Second Chance. I had to pull up the video to even know what it was. Had heard it many times but ignored it as just another meh pop song.

Turns out it was .38's highest charting single ever.

I got one that I’m pretty sure might get me ridiculed cause of the band but the lyrics are solid.

Imagine Dragons - Monster

It’s about individuality and being yourself. Straying off the path of the normal expectations. People are scared of different. People have a hard time buying in when there’s only one you. The harder and deeper you dig, the more powerful the perception of disbelief becomes to the average person.

I would imagine of this board of all the boards, and the love for music, that more could relate than other boards. Being yourself in life, going against the grain and knowing in your heart your intentions are good, can be a very heavy weight to carry when all you want is to be able to be yourself and fit in with those around you that matter to you.

I'm very surprised by this. They were my favorite band in hs. I figured they had at least 3 songs that charted higher.

The song was co-written and sung by the Max Carl who had just joined the group before Rock & Roll Strategy. So it was definitely a new voice (not Don, who Max replaced, or Donnie).

It was also the late 80s/ early 90s when rock bands from the 70s had some of the rough edges polished off with ballads. I liken it to "If You Needed Somebody" by Bad Company.

Dan Hartman in blackface for the I Can Dream About You was somewhat confusing at the time.
