I think we all have that one band or singer that we are or have been obsessed with for a long time. Who is it for you. Something that you just can not get tired of.

Started with Floyd back when I was 15 years old. Cousin bought me Meddle for Christmas and that got it all started for me. A few listens of Echoes on vinyl and I have been obsessed ever since.

I have loved other bands but no music has ever taken the place of Floyd

Echoes
All of DSOM
Shine On
Welcome to the Machine
Sorrow (So underrated)
Coming back to life
High Hopes
So so many

Never got tired of them or the music... Never will

My obsessions come in very intense waves lasting for various lengths of time depending on my stage in life. They've roughly gone like this:

Metallica - got me into rock/metal and shaped my learning of guitar. I was a Kirk Hammett disciple for so long
Satriani/Eric Johnson/etc - took me to the next level as a guitarist
Period of more Heavy Metal - Disturbed, Shadows Fall, Trivium, Iced Earth, A7X, Killswitch, Dragonforce, etc provided good heavy inspiration while still keeping guitar chops fresh
Progressive phase - Dream Theater, Rush, Coheed were good mixes of musical evolution and Petrucci provided a great goal for my playing during a time in my life when I had lots of free time to focus
Pop/acoustic phase - just getting into loving singing/songwriting and playing popular songs in front of others; somehow low and high pressure simultaneously
Current phase - rediscovering old and new things all while trying to maintain some level of guitar competency as my available free time to play decreases in my current state of life, loving Tremonti right now for a good mix of melodic and shred

When I get into something it's really intense and the duration varies

Good question. Can't really name just one. A bunch of bands have held my interest for a long time. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Rush, Dream Theater, Tool, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, King's X.

But if I absolutely had to choose right now, I would pick Frank Zappa and Devin Townsend.

I've got a lot that come in waves, but I've been into for 15-20 years. The first 4 Metallica albums, Allman Brothers Live at the Filmore, Crowbar, Townes Van Zandt, Hendrix - Band of Gypsies, everything Chris Cornell did.

Metallica. Their catalog is so diverse I can put them on shuffle and go all day without getting burned out. They give you some super heavy, some super fast, some ballads, some beautiful melodic intros. They are the perfect balance.

Lynyrd Skynyrd (Ronnie Van Zant) era. Not a bad song on any of their albums during that period.

I can certainly see how this would be a obsession. Great music

I go through phases. Last year at this time it was All Them Witches. Listened to them all the time, all day.

For the past six months, it has been all Steven Wilson. Porcupine Tree and his solo stuff has dominated my listening.

I work remote so I listen to a lot of music. I've listened to Home Invasion (live set) through and through daily for the past month.

Gilmour's gloomy guitar work on The Division Bell is a thing of beauty. He's also at the top of his game vocally. I love that record.

Nope, there's none that I've never tired of.

Certainly had a bunch of favorites along the way, including many that still make a playlist, but there so many I've missed along they way and so much new to discover, plus my taste(s) change and evolve. Guess I like hearing a new lick, another novel verse, and new takes on an old cover too much to not keep on the move.

And it makes hearing and old (maybe PF ) tune all the better.

His work on the lap steel has always been great as well. His work on MLOR was excellent as well. I know its not a favorite by most but it did have some great tunes on it.

Sorrow may be the most underrated Floyd song ever.
