Arguably his best song IMO
Seven lonely days And a dozen towns ago I reached out one night and you were gone...

I’m not a huge Elvis fan, but Kentucky Rain is probably the best. I also enjoy Don’t Be Cruel.

It is awesome but a bit obscure. Which makes it more cool. If you come across an impersonator who does Kentucky Rain, you know he’s legit. Lol

It’s a great song that has been ruined by modern technology. Today, he would just call/text her on her cell phone.

One of the first Elvis songs I ever remember hearing as a child. It still sends chills up my spine.
Ronnie Milsap played piano on the single.

Early period Elvis - the best song is almost certainly That's All Right Mama.
Mid-to-late career? American Trilogy.
But, Kentucky Rain is pretty badass, without question.

Eddie Rabbit's first hit song. He pinned Kentucky Rain for Elvis.

the HBO documentary had me listening to Elvis all weekend. So many great songs, but my favorite is Suspicious Minds

Two "...and it's not even close" comments in less than a page. I think we've reached the thread limit for now.
And his best song ever, IMHO, is One Night With You, especially his live version on his "Comeback Special"...
...and it's not even...never mind.

What a formulaic wall of sound - might as well been by Phil Spector - thank GOD there was FM at the time.

Kentucky Rain is excellent...but this (from the '68 special) has always been my favorite version of any Elvis song...
