Which member of famous bands do you think a weak link when compared to the others in the band?
Lars Ulrich of Metallica is a good example. He's sloppy and messes up in concerts all the time.

He sure could ride those root-note eighth notes.

As for the Rolling Stones, it was Charley. Many would say Bill, but he was a great bassist. Great.
Charley had no business playing rock and roll, he was too good for it.

I like to ensure that I am the weak link in every music project I'm associated with, lol.

I’ll get down voted to hell but Ozzy in Black Sabbath.
Dio in Black Sabbath was so much better.

None of them were great musicians to begin with, but Peter Criss of Kiss was especially bad.

Flip side comparison. All of them were great at their craft but Alex Lifeson was clearly the lagger in Rush.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Mike Mills of REM.
Not that he’s terrible, just that other than the intro to “Cuyahoga” I can’t think of anything truly memorable that he contributed to the band that virtually any other average bassist/background vocalist could have provided.

My favorite backing vocalist of all time.

Seems like some are mentioning rhythms section members that didn’t do anything that stands out ... which is exactly what some bands need.
