What makes you think the guy that got his life together, is sober, and prefers a quiet, isolated life is the one at fault instead of the band that brought in a family member from a band with one single called “Porn Star Dancing”? I’m curious. Matt Walst’s voice isn’t even kind of close to replicating Gontier. It’s like they didn’t even try. They need Gontier more than Gontier needs them.

Flip side comparison. All of them were great at their craft but Alex Lifeson was clearly the lagger in Rush.

Some of Lifeson’s solos are just brilliant, but I have to say after seeing some videos of just him with a guitar, I was surprised at how awkward and technically lacking his playing was.

And for the Brian Jones comment, good God. He was a genius.

He was basically phased out of the band without missing a step. Actually they got better. Yeah he was a wreck, but I don’t think he was developing musically like the leaders were.

His one memorable contribution is the slide part in no expectations. I’m not sure he has any more beyond forming the band. Can you help me out?

Hate to say it but these days probably Axl Rose in GnR. The live performances I've seen from the past few years sound more Mickey Mouse than Axl.

He's the weak link now but he's 58 years old, you can say that about just about any 58 year old rocker and most of them didn't sing like Axl in his prime either.

Charle watts is a terrific drummer. Anyone who doesnt recognize it is full of crap. Other members of the band consider him to be essential. Wyman is very, very good. He’s amazing on some tracks.

I wish you were right, friend. However, you do realize the reason there was a 4 year delay in albums for SA was because of another relapse by Adam, right? He's openly contradicted himself on multiple times regarding his past and was the first to start pointing fingers at 3DG when the other guys tried to keep it professional before being forced to delve into specifics for the sake of the fanbase. Also, the fact that SA has a revolving door of band members while 3DG has continuity leads me to believe that between his personal life and everything revealed to the public, Adam must be hard to work with at times.

I wish they needed Gontier more than he needs them, but their string of #1's since his departure and the fact that they continue to headline shows leads me to believe otherwise. SA has yet to receive that type of airplay on the radio. Lest I forget the fact that 3DG is hiring professional songwriters to collaborate with them to get those #1's, but still.

If I were in 3DG, if Adam couldn't have been persuaded to stay, I would've been on the phone with Toryn Green immediately.

This is all coming from someone who was raised on 3DG. I wish things had ended differently and Matt could've stayed in his pawn shop band.

You've got reading comprehension problems.

Their popularity is declining rapidly. They were arena headline status with him. They are nowhere effing close now. I'm not even sure they could sell out a HOB NOLA show tbh. Adam doesn't seem to really give a shite about the fame and money anymore. That's why I say he doesn't need them. He can go play acoustic 2k venues overseas, make some cash, sell out, make fans happy, and retreat back to his isolation in rural Canada.

Yeah he was big on that. Never my favorite and they copied the sitar but have it a distinct sound.

Beggars banquet is where they took off creatively. He is all but absent other than minor contributions on that album and clearly not on anything after.

I don’t really like doing this exercise for great bands but Brian Jones was quite obviously replaceable. They wouldn’t have gotten to that point without him so I get it.

Is your UN a stones reference? Might make sense why you dig the Brian Jones era

Couldn’t play YCAGWYW in the studio. It’s why it always sounds strange live.

Under my thumb is a good one too. Never liked their live arrangements like I did the studio.
