The Wu-Tang Clan.

There are individual members I like very much, but they have one classic album, one double album with a single album's worth of good material and a few more albums that are really blah.

I meam shitty in terms of their group output, bc there are some talented artists in the Wu.

Avenged is incredible. Great album and then took their talents to the next level in city of evil. One of the more talented mainstream metal bands

I can’t think of any better answer than Bush - Sixteen Stone. Perfectly fits the bill

Marylin Manson, "Mechanical Animals"

Manson goes through a Bowie-phase and the results are quite serviceable and miles more mature than anything else he's ever done.

His Reznor produced stuff is great, especially Antichrist Superstar.

I enjoyed "Antichrist Superstar" in my early 20s, but it's difficult to connect with as a husband and father in my early 40s. What I like about "Mechanical Animals" is that Manson put the satanic imagery aside and made an album I could listen to with my girlfriend at the time.
