I just bought a new 30-06 Ruger American rifle and when trying to chamber shells, it jams on the third and fourth shell damn near every time due to the piss poor magazine. Apparently this is a common occurrence that Ruger knows about and has done little to resolve. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix? It really is a shame because the gun itself is great, just a POS design for a magazine. I can't find any other manufacturers who make magazines for it either.
The Field and Stream in Lafayette had a bunch of 7-08 in stock this weekend. Not sure if they still do, but it was there two days in a row last week.
I've had the base model Pixelbook Go for about a month now and it's been great so far.
I've read five so far. The first three Dark Tower books, Doctor Sleep, and The Stand uncut edition (1152 page behemoth). Also jumping back into the Lonesome Dove series, but Stephen King feels right for the current times.
I loved BNW and and plan to read We soon. I need to finish the Dark Tower series first. The DT series kind of fits what you want as well, but it's not totally centered around a dystopian future.
Animal Farm and Brave New World are excellent. Can't go wrong with either. I've never really cared for Fahrenheit 451. I get its message and its importance, but I feel the story and its characters are less interesting than the other two books you have mentioned. And of course if you like AF and BNW, there is the dark dystopian classic, 1984. If you have already read 1984, then definitely read BNW. Two very different visions of a dystopian future.

The Paperwhite is the way to go. I had the previous generation, but my wife took it over, so I got the newest one since it is now waterproof and capable of playing audiobooks through bluetooth. Looks good indoors and outside. If it gets smudges or dirty I just rinse it under the faucet. Pretty sweet.
A loaded one that you have practiced with enough to be able to hit what you are shooting at accurately when under stress. Having a gun that you can't hit shite with will only get you killed. If it is for home defense get a light for it. Learn to shoot with that too. Everyone thinks it's good enough to have a gun for protection, but you are rarely going to be attacked/broken in on under ideal conditions that most people practice at the range. If you ever have to shoot in a dark, enclosed building (your house at night during a break-in) you learn quickly that the noise and flash from the gun can throw you off target and disorient you quickly.
I honestly wouldn't recommend ordering a Gibson online. I've owned several Gibsons over the years, two Les Paul's and an SG. While Gibson CAN make great guitars, you really need to play them in person because Gibson's QC is lacking big time. I haven't purchased from Gibson in a few years, so I can't really say how their QC is now, but it was pretty bad when I was last shopping. It didn't really matter whether it was a top line model or a budget model, they all suffered the same inconsistency in build quality (sharp fret edges, nut slots that weren't cut properly, messed up binding, misaligned bridges, faulty finishes, etc.) You will need to play the guitar to make sure all of these things are good. If you are going to drop big $$$$ on a Gibson, better check it out first or you will likely be dealing with Gibson's less than stellar customer service who will probably do whatever they can to avoid fixing it (I have experience with this first hand). I CAN say that I have never had a QC issue with Fender. I've ordered many Fender instruments online and they have all been excellent. I love both companies, but Fender has way better QC.
I love Tool but the new album was just ok for a Tool album. It's their weakest full length studio album IMO. It's still a good album compared to most of the crap that comes out these days and better than most new rock band's "best" albums. Just not as good as I hoped from Tool after 13 years of working on it. Like others have mentioned, there are some solid, classic Tool songs on the album, just not as impressive as a whole as their other albums.
Radiohead- Pablo Honey
Not very original or memorable (with the exception of Creep) compared to the rest of their albums.

Gorillaz- The Fall
They haven't done anything outstanding since Plastic Beach, but this was their worst album imo.

Both bands are great, but AIC is slightly better imo due to the incredible vocal harmonies of Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell. Jerry Cantrell was also a better guitarist imo. I don't think Kim Thayil is a bad guitarist, he's pretty underrated considering he had some very catchy riffs and many of Soundgarden's songs were in odd time signatures. The thing is, Jerry Cantrell not only played great memorable and technical guitar parts, he sang while playing them. AIC has been able to move on without Lane Staley since they also had a great and similar sounding singer in Jerry Cantrell. Without Chris Cornell, SG would not work.
Maroon 5- Songs About Jane

Fallout Boy- From Under the Cork Tree

My wife bought me this record on vinyl for my birthday. It's one of the best live acoustic performances of all time in my opinion, both for the quality of the recording and for their performance.
Up until a couple of weeks ago, hardly anyone was wearing a mask in the grocery stores in Lafayette, including workers. Around two weeks back I noticed WAY more people wearing masks. I don't know why the sudden increased use of masks occurred. Maybe people are actually seeing people they know getting sick and decided it was a good idea?

My wife and I began collecting vinyls about 3-4 years ago. I'm not sure if my wife bought the album on a whim or maybe the cover art, but that was my first introduction to Neutral Milk Hotel, and I've loved that album ever since.
I had a subscription for about a year or so. I'd say if you want to expand your musical taste or maybe just pick up some really cool looking and sounding vinyls, it might be worth it. For the most part, the monthly record was usually really good. There were only a few records that I wasn't really into. I ended up cancelling my subscription because I had other more important financial obligations at the time.
