Been to multiple Billy shows. It’s fun, but I can only listen to so much bluegrass.

Seen WSP 29x and will continue, but Billy is good for a night every few years.

“Gild the Lily” is what got me, and got me good.

Dust in a Baggie

Video from 2012 - Billy looks like he's on the cast of Brother Where Art Thou

Away from the Mire studio version hooked me originally. Was blessed to see the version featured in his live album in Austin 2023.

Away From the Mire got me too. Seen it live twice. He has so much great music and it the GOAT at what he does.

I heard his guitar work during Covid and started going to his live shows on his New Years Eve runs in New Orleans. They all have been magical. He has evolved quite a bit over the last few years, is on fire right now and it seems he is getting better.

Got tix for the upcoming NOLA shows again and hoping to catch one elsewhere.

fwiw- I listen to a fair amount of bluegrass now due to Billy.

You and I are the same. I can't see WSP enough. I always want more. I tried doing a 2 night billy run. Previously had seen him one night every year or two. Loved the first show and then went back for night 2 and the grass made me want to vomit. Not because it sounded any diff than the night before but because I can only take so much. That being said, Billy is as talented as them all.

That's a crap ton of pedals and electronics for a band playing acoustic instruments.

yall really should have the nugs app and subscription if you don’t already. The closing sequence of the most recent show with greensky bluegrass (don’t lie>creek>don’t lie) is jaw dropping

Very true. It is very self limiting. Even with a guy as wildly talented as him. If he comes close to Houston I am going. But I am a guitar geek.

This is me. Billy is an amazing talent. One of the best. I love him when he and the band turn on one of those 20 minute All Fall Downs or Turmoil and Tinfoils heaters, but there's only so much bluegrass I can take in a certain amount of time. I think his live collection album or 2022 Lollapalooza set strike a good balance of twang and jam.

It took me a while because the name seemed so pretentious.

Holy shite. I've been deep diving into Billy Strings videos since late last year. He's a once in a generation talent.

The bluegrass I like well enough. But where he blows me away is his improvising in every genre that exists. In particular his time with Billy and the Kids is some of the best music I've ever heard. He's got Pete Maravich level talent.

I saw my friend from Golden Gate Park in a closeup on the rail dancing in Ionia on night one and by the end of the night had paid scalpers prices for two in nights in Huntsville. Thanks Nugs!!!

Fall/winter is looking good
Huntsville in October x2
NOLA in December x2
Asheville in February x5

Btw Billy is recording an album with David Grisman right now. If you’re not familiar with the Dawg and the Quintet you are in for a treat if you give it a whirl. Very sophisticated acoustic jamming
