Either way.
That's a good Stapleton song. More of a soul singer on that one.

More of a blues man IMO.

Maybe that’s why he plays all the kamala rallies

Former head of Alberta. Colter has a legit awesome sound though and is twice the country singer as most famous candyass “country” bros in Nashville.

I keep telling people that Chris Stapleton is an R&B singer with a hat.

Pretty clear that's where his musical interests are if you ever try to listen to his SiriusXM channel.

Stapleton post Steeldrivers has been heavy on the blues side. He's better than 95% of the contemporary mainstream country artists. In terms of quality country

Stapleton
Sturgill Simpson
Brad Paisley......because he's just a really good guitarist

Charles Wesley Godwin
Zach Bryan
Wyatt Flores

The rest of what passes for Country Music.....is not really Country.

I have to separate my politics from my music and let the musical talent stand on its own. Paisley can hold his own with some of the best especially as a guitarist

It's not the same genre as what you're thinking.

I have this conversation consistently in my friend circles:

1 - It's ridiculous to allow other genres of music to evolve and not give country music the same benefit. The Doors and Five Finger Death Punch are both considered rock bands, but have little similarity in sound.

2 - With that evolving in mind, it's moving the goal posts to not acknowledge that all of the "heroes of yesterday" were accused (and did) the same thing that the next generation gets riddled for. Florida Georgia Line was pop country for their time, Keith Urban for his, Garth Brooks for his, Willie Nelson released a damn pop standards album.

3 - We don't ride across plains and rivers on horses any more. We have computers in our pockets. It's natural to sing about things you know and experience. Climbing the Appalachian mountains to build a log cabin that you fell the trees for yourself isn't a thing for 99.9% of the population.

4 - Even if you want to ignore all of these points....there are plenty of artists who are recreating the sound of a black and white John Wayne movie soundtrack...many already mentioned in here (Sturgill, Crockett, Ferrell, Wall, etc)

When I saw Sierra this spring she had a group called Two Runner open the show, and they were real good if you like that kind of music

Red Dirt. Offshoot of what Waylon and Willie and them started. Tons of real good country music that isn't Nashville bullshite pop.

Forget that. Go on Spotify or Apple Music and pull up the 25 song playlist put out by Saving Country Music. He updates it every week or two, and there are always several good tunes from old and new artists, almost none of whom you’ll hear on the radio (except Outlaw Country on Sirius/XM). Read the SCM site and discover new artists and albums.
