It's not country music. It's basically a twangy version of pop/rock. There's no real country and western music today on contemporary country music radio. It's all chicken fried nickel back. There's not even a hint of Hank Williams or George Jones or Marty Robbins or Waylon Jennings or George Strait or Randy Travis or ever Porter Wagner. There's no Loretta Lynn or even a hint of Patsy Cline or even Reba these days. Mary Chapin Carpenter was better than any female country artist today. Tanya Tucker would mop the floor with today's female talent. The closest we have to a real female country singer these days is Kacey Musgraves.

I give Taylor Swift credit for realizing that she became better suited to pop music and leaving country instead of pretending to be country.

real country music, the ladies are keeping the torch lit. I can’t think of a male country artist right now that I can stand to listen to

I keep telling people that Chris Stapleton is an R&B singer with a hat.

His rendition of "Tennessee Whiskey" sounds like he's singing it to to the tune of "I'd Rather Go Blind."

yes sturgill is awesome thank goodness for him. I’ll see him live in January

Lindsey Lou is another female country singer that I dig. The “name” male country stars are predominantly bro country douchebags

This is the entire problem.
I have been hearing Zach Top a little bit, but then that gets followed up by some auto tuned hip hop sounding crap for the next few songs.

I don't really listen to post 1982 or so country, but Colter Wall seems pretty country from what I've heard.

Been that way for a long time, save for a very few traditional artists that you usually don't hear much from because that's not what record companies want to push.

I remember when Garth Brooks came out and we all made fun of him for being pop. But this shite coming out these days makes Garth sound like the second coming of Johnny Lee Willis

It’s called Hick Hop for a reason. Every singer sounds like a try hard. Old school country artists actually lived the life that inspired their music. These guys today are formulaic corporate posers.
