Old Crow Medicine Show

The Varsity seems a little big for these guys.

I saw them at the Lyric in Oxford. That place is pretty similar to the Varisty in size and layout. It was slammed packed and OCMS tore it up.

Nice hipster cred, but I just don't see him being a good match for the Varsity.

Hell yeah. I love One Eyed Jacks. Imagine being packed in there with your best friend and 398 lesbians. It was not as hot as you would hope.

Nobody really listens to those pussy toms wearing bands. Just because your song is on a cell phone commercial doesn't mean you can sell out a world famous venue like the varsity.

We need to stop looking at these sissy obama flash in the pan pop groups and get real musicians like fuel or LFO

The Varisty is a cool little venue with a ton of potential. The three years I lived in BR I think we went to The Varsity one time. They just never had any shows there I was interested in.

The new promotor should take a note from the guys who book shows for the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. They do a great job of mixing local shows with bigger names, including cutting edge hipster bands and honky tonk stuff. Similar sized venue in a similar sized city. I'm always blown away at the acts that play the Cains. No reason the Varsity couldn't do the same.

Upcoming shows at the Cains:

Rev Horton Heat
The Gourds
Beach House
moe.
Death Cab for Cutie
Indigo Girls
Stoney Larue
Slightly Stoopid
Chris Robinson Brotherhood
Little Feat
The Head and the Heart w/ Blitzen Trapper
Ryan Bingham
Starfricker

good mix of old and young.

You don't sound like you're very up to date...

I'd say all 4 of those bands would do pretty damn good at Varsity...
