I said Spoon somewhat in jest. Britt Daniel is currently working on a side project with a guy from Wolf Parade and a guy from New Bomb Turks. Album due later this year on Merge. May be a while before we get a Spoon tour.

Gary Clark Jr.
Alabama Shakes
Civil Wars
Modest Mouse
Amos Lee
Ray Lamontagne

If possible, would love any kind of legendary blues act like a Buddy Guy for example.

My SO lives in Oxford and the lyric is roughly just like the varsity as far as size and setup as someone mentioned earlier. With that said within the last year some decent bands played there including North Mississippi Allstars, Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, JJ Grey and Mofro, Cold War Kids, The Givers, Snoop Dog, Portugal the Man, STS9, Robert Earl Keen, The Temptations, P Groove, The Avett Brothers, Yonder Mountain String Band, Willie Nelson, and Warren Haynes. And within the past 2 years I know Modest Mouse, drive By Truckers, Bassnector, Robert Randolph, Railroad Earth, The Disco Biscuits, and Grace Potter have played. So it's possible even with the size of the varsity to get decent bands. Hell Oxford is in the middle of nowhere and the same distance to Memphis as br is to Nola.

The Lyric is on a roll. Maybe your guy can collaborate with the lyric guy and recommend acts each others way that are trying to route tours.

Let me make a plea for some metal and hard rock bands since we seem to have hipster and folk rock covered already. HOB only books 2 or 3 metal shows a year now and The Hangar looks like its done so Varsity has a chance to get in on this market.
Down
Clutch
Gwar
Hatebreed
Anthrax
Cannibal Corpse
Machine Head
All of these bands appeal to a fairly mainstream metal crowd and would be a good draw.

They pack the HOB everytime I've seen them there. I've seen them in Lafayette a few times as well so I know they do smaller places too.
