Let's get it all out here people

It's gotta be reasonable though. It's a 800 person venue. So keep that in mind.

Who do you want to see play in BR at the varsity?

I'd rather see a band in NOLA than BR

You'd rather drive 65 miles instead of a few?

Why?

Why post this? It has nothing at all to do with the thread topic.

Vampire Weekend, Mumford and Sons, and Avett Brothers would be up there for me. All three seem relatively feasible. Maybe not m&s anymore but I can hope.

Doc, email me if this guy will take an intern or something of the sort. I'm moving back from Nola in August to start law school and would like to have something to do outside of school. I know people that know people in Nola, Nashville, and austin

if she's playing Voodoo, as is suspected, then there's no reason she shouldn't be able to hit BR if the varsity comes knocking

not at all reasonable. Avett sold out the River Center theater earlier this year and Mumford has gotten big enough to play arenas. tickets would be over $100 for either of those bands if they played in there. just my opinion, though i would love to see either

I don't know. Maybe Chris Owens would play in BR if you asked her nicely.

Figured so. I was at that River Center Avett show and just thought it would be great to see them in an even smaller venue.

I guess recently appearing on the Grammys makes Avett and M&S a Varsity pipe dream.

There is no chance in hell that new guy from the Varsity can book these guys (hoping the new guy from the varsity takes the bait)

I don’t live in BR, but instead of trying to book has-beens, how about trying to book big “college” bands, given that the Varsity is next to campus?

Titus Andronicus, Cloud Nothings, the National, Man Man, Punch Brothers, Trampled by Turtles, Mister Heavenly, Dr. Dog, the Hold Steady, Deer Tick… there are plenty of smallish bands who the Varsity could get. And get great shows, too.

dredg (they would almost certainly be down. They were thoroughly impressed with the turnout at the Spanish Moon and sought me out to let me know that we "were right")

Gogol Bordello

Team Sleep

Die Antwoord (just so I can make a run at banging Yolandi)

Mew (doubtful, but that would be a dream for me)

I don't mind an occasional cover band, but the Varsity had gotten really bad about booking cover bands. How many 80s nights do you really need to have in a month?
