When I was young I thought 'Stay (Just a Little Bit Longer)' was by Billy Joel, not Jackson Browne.

For years I thought Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale was Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I used to think the song I Can Help by Billy Swan was by Ringo Starr. I can still hear why I thought that was Ringo.

I thought “Lonely is the Night” was by Led Zeppelin not Billy Squire.

Thought “Can’t you see?” Was Allman Brothers not Marshal Tucker Band

Thought “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More” was Lynyrd Skynyrd not Allman Brothers.

I thought “I’m a Believer” was by the Beatles not The Monkeys.

Songs that are commonly mistaken to be ELO:
Voices by Cheap Trick
Love is Like Oxygen by Sweet

It’s a common mistake to think that Horse with No Name by America is a Neil Young song.

I used to think that ELO's Fire on High was Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. Also used to think every time I heard a Krokus song for the first time I was hearing a new song by AC/DC.

Well, there's a little similarity with the voice. And it's a very simple song like Ringo did for awhile.

The song itself could be, but I think the vocal is much different.

That's extremely plausible, considering what the movie was about.
