With all due respect, my guess is that you haven't heard Trick of the Tail, Nursery Cryme, or Foxtrot.

I'll easily take 1970's Genesis music over what I hear while I'm shopping.

God no

Just the fact that "Holla back girl" exists makes this incorrect. One of the worst songs ever recorded.

Some pretty bad takes in this thread. In no way is McCartney better than The Beatles, Sting better than The Police, or Ozzy better than Black Sabbath. Those three groups are brilliant. I thought i was going out on a limb stating Jeff Beck was better than The Yardbirds.

WTF?

Outside of Boys of Summer, his solo career sucked IMO

Is this supposed to be a joke?

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was basically just Jimi with a backing band. But even if you consider them a real group, he did nothing after except a live album Band of Gypsys. And he only made that album due to contractual obligations.

Then he died.

This should apply to people who were in bands that were famous. Virtually every artist was in a band at some point.

Naming their pre-fame band is kind of missing the point.
