I appreciate good lyrics, man. We both live on this board because we love music that much and like to discuss it. I understand your point. I'm talking about it being bad overall. For every Mos def there's 100 soulja boys. It does take a skill, but it's mostly butchered. The question was asking which genre I won't listen to, so I answered and explained. It's based off our opinions, our thoughts.

I'm not faulting you for not listening to it... Hell I don't really listen to it. The only people I'm faulting are the people who were saying it takes zero talent or that "anyone can make rap".
If you weren't one of those people than I have no argument with you since you only followed the spirit of the thread and posted a genre you don't enjoy.

Whatever floats your boat but as great of a guitarist as he is his songs are equally as corny and boring in my opinion

He is the only one I can tolerate.

There is a band named "Gay for Johnny Depp" that will occasionally pop up on my Jango workout station. It is classified as spazzcore. It's fricking awful and absolutely the worst thing I have ever heard.

Not a big fan of many contemporary country artists. I know there have got to be some out there that I would enjoy, but I don't know where to look. I like Hank3 and Shooter Jennings, and Jamey Johnson isn't that bad.

Well if thats what you like I can't really help you considering I think they are garbage
but my favorites are Christ Knight, Jason Boland, Robert Earle Keene, American Aquarium, Ryan Bingham and Reckless Kelly.
That should give you a start on what I think is good contemporary country. I also think Jamey Johnson is one of the best doing it today.

I didn't even think of REK as contemporary.

Modern Country. Why? Because it's shitty aweful generic and all sounds the same.

But that's true with everything, really. 90% of anything is crap. I'm a huge punk fan, but there's lots of awful awful punk bands.

You're referring to mainstream country. There are really great country acts out there that you won't find on the radio.

My understanding of contemporary is probably a little skewed....I have known about REK for quite a while, and thus don't think of him as modern.
I will check out those other folks.

The thing with hip hop is, these days, you really need to search out the good stuff. the terrible stuff is whats out there the most. Its not like the early 90s when what was popular was awesome. The more commercially viable rap has become, the more watered down the mainstream has become.

Boots Riley aka The Coup is probably my favorite right now
