I can't do ANY of the heavy stuff that screams and grunts at me the whole time. I really don't get the appeal. I'm open to someone trying to explain it to me though.

Will listen to anything else. I can find something from every genre that I like, except for heavy metal/grunge rock/ect

It's because we are so emotional that it's the only way to fully express the pain and suffering in our tattered souls.

Nah jk, I got into it at first from going to shows. After a while it became my favorite kind of music.

country. I've tried to give it a chance. to me its rednecks wearing cowboy hats, wranglers, cowboy boots, and mustaches slurring away about whiskey and their old hound dogs. plus i think it sounds cheesy as shite.

I can handle a few, but rap in general as a genre is a joke to me. How people can listen to it constantly blows my mind. When people try to tell me that a rap artist is more talented than a musician (not referring to shite bands like Nickelback) I want to pull my hair out. I understand it is opinion, but even I can make rap if I tried. I make beats and samples on my computer all the time just messing around. I can appreciate good lyrics and beats, but that is just rare finds. Live rap music with the hype-man, just don't get it.

Country.

It is way to cheesy and cookie cutter for me. Every lyric is about dirt roads, pick up trucks, etc. Most of the artist sound like(vocally and musically) like every other one.

You are also a person that understands guitar. Someone hitting a million notes may be cool and difficult, but it does nothing for me. When the music has a guitarist who can shape the sounds without having to speed rush it, that is where I am impressed. Give me a blues guitar player over metal any day.

I'd agree with mainstream country being like this but this is certainly not the case with alt. country. I'm not saying you would like it but your reasons for disliking it would be different at the very least.

Rap/Hip Hop

First, it's not music. Second, I hate the gangsta culture with all that gold teef and bling bling.

Speed has its place but sweep arpeggiating through the scales as fast as you can just because you can does nothing for me.

One of the problems I have with Jimmy Herring for example. I like his playing but he attempts to be a machine gun entirely too much at times.

Scandanavian black metal bands are not remotely kidding. They actually do burn churches to the ground and kill poeple.
