You should watch the one I linked on the other page with Heart, string arrangements, brass and choral. It’s good and had Robert Plant in tears. Not to mention John Paul Jones wife behind him-an OT 10.

Concert scene was fine until the early 80's when there was a high publicity teen overdose at a concert at the Centroplex.

AC/DC played the Centroplex and there was a near-riot. This was also around the time of Ozzy’s various controversies.

it was D/A Ossie Brown who shut down the concerts.

The actual Rick James riot at the Fairgrounds, circa 1983, was the final straw.

I was there, Presence Tour!! Waited 4 hours in freezing rain to get tickets.........

This would sadly be one of the groups last shows together with this lineup.

Queen at the Centroplex was amazing.
Probably the best perfromance as far as a show as I ever saw and I've seen The Stones (garbage fwiw), Van Halen, Boston, Heart, Foreigner, The Eagles, Cheap Trick, Journey, Thin Lizzy, Def Leppard, Krokus, Blue Oyster Cult, Doobie Brothers...

General admission, overcrowded place by a couple of thousand. Reporters just happened to be there.

Groups still came but atmosphere changed. For awhile the police wouldn't even let you dance during the concert.

Well, the real a-hole was then D.A. Ossie Brown. SOB banned Ozzie from playing and cost me my chance to see Randy Rhodes.

I was there too. My fist concert ever- what a way to start.

Pink Floyd also played BR on their Animals tour. I missed that one, but saw everyone else (Yes, Jethro Tull, Queen etc).

AC/DC was the last mega concert I attended in BR and Ossie Brown did shut it all down after that wicked, wicked concert. That was the last of the 'general admission' on the floor. All concerts since then have been reserved seating.

Yep! I was at this LZ concert in BR. Ticket cost $7.50. I remember standing in line to get a ticket. They were over an hour late to start and we were all buzzed out. My buddy passed out and missed the whole show. Also saw The Stones, The Who, Yes and Pink Floyd, BTO at the Assembly Center. Well that's all I can remember!

Glen Fry last concert was Bossier City? does that mean that Century Tel is the actual Hotel California?

Many of the bandmembers were greatly influenced by southern blues. That's why they played many southern venues that they had probably outgrown. Led Zepp and others

Very true, I met Robert Plant in the lobby of the Remington hotel in Shreveport. He asked for directions to Fannin street and St Paul’s bottoms. He was on a Huddie Leadbetter pilgrimage. I advised him not to walk for safety reasons, but I don’t think he heeded my suggestion.

Jimi Hendrix

_______________

Saw him in Shreveport Municipal Auditorium probably the same year - 10th grade; late 60's.

Burned the house down with "Fire" last song - speared 15-20 Vox amps (stacked 20' high) with his guitar until they fell to the floor - would've killed him right there if they'd landed on him!
