Ten bucks to see Zeppelin in their prime.

So $43.20 still not bad.

Look up the 1978 LSU yearbook gumbo. Pictures of tons of concerts at LSU including led zep, Fleetwood Mac, and many others.

I was there. It was the Assembly Center then and some good Mexican 10 Dollar lids were being sold.
Here is a great tribute by Heart playing Stairway to Heaven when they were honored by the Kennedy Center. Jason Bonham, John Bonham’s son on drums.

Concert scene was fine until the early 80's when there was a high publicity teen overdose at a concert at the Centroplex. And it was D/A Ossie Brown who shut down the concerts. And banned The Life of Brian from showing in Baton Rouge.

Back in those days, headliners coming to small and medium sized cities was normal.

To be honest I'm just repeating what Stan Campbell told me. I know JS had a lot of political power back then, but who knows.

I saw lots of huge acts at the Centroplex (frick a River Center) and the PMAC.
Sadly, those days are over. Mainly because music is shite these days. Also, because the logistics and costs of concerts these days demand big cities and modern venues, so NOLA and Houston get the shows, but not BR. But mostly that shite music thing.
ETA: Last huge concert I saw in BR was definitely in the 90's. Soundgarden opening for Guns n' Roses at the PMAC in January 1992. It was fricking cold.
ETA2: ZZ Top still plays the River Center every few years, but they're a legacy act and no longer a huge act. They're on the casino circuit. That's about as big an act I can remember playing BR recently.

Seeing this thread makes me want a time machine so bad. Can you imagine traveling back seeing Led Zeppelin and the rolling Stones in a small venue in their prime?

I grew up in NOLA in the 70s and 80s, it was way more common for big name acts to play BR and Biloxi than NOLA... there were exceptions, like the Stones attendance record breaking show at the Dome in ‘81, but the acoustics in the Dome for rock shows are notoriously bad, and until the opening of the UNO Lakefront Arena (and later, the SKC) there weren’t many appropriate venues in New Orleans, which probably explains why they gravitated toward BR and Biloxi.

It cost $7.50 to get into that show. I still have my ticket stub.
