Doubtful. Who was Aaron Dessner and Liz Rose?
From google

Taylor Swift has written or co-written every song in her discography, including over 60 songs written entirely alone. She often collaborates with producers Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner, Max Martin, and Shellback.
Not a fan, like I said, but looks like she has done a lot on her own

Great callout

These cranky old men get upset at the idea of some 20 year old pop star being more talented than the grandpa rock they listen to from the 60s.

Again, doubtful. That's crap put out by publicists. There was a video by Rick Beato that said as much.

Looking at all the people above Willie just makes me angry.

Rick Beato roasts this, 2 hours ago posted.

...and yes, McCartney has had his primary residence in Arizona for over 50 years.

His video highlights what I called out earlier, how do they define a songwriter?
It sounds like they are attempting to talk about best Lyricists, which is different than a song writer.

So no Hetfield, Cuomo, Corgan, etc but we’re going to put a who’s who of 2000s hip hop crap.

Again, lyricists or song writers...
Hetfield isn't a great lyricist, but song composition along with Hammit, Newstead, Burton, etc... yes, maybe Metallica would be on the cusp of the Top 30

Billy Joel is a massive omission. He’s close to the top of the list.

Out of the people named in that list the top 6 should be
Bob Dylan
Paul Simon
Carole King
Willy Nelson
Smokie Robinson
Stevie Wonder

Asking out of ignorance...did Mariah Carey really write stuff?
Posted on 4/30/26 at 9:48 am to TommyCheeseballs
Springsteen should be higher.
And Jason Isbell is way better than a lot on the list.
Completely disagree with their stated politics but most of the songs don't reflect those politics and are worthy on merit.

Why so much love for Paul Simon? He wrote some great stuff but also stole music from Los Lobos. That song totally sounds like a Los Lobos song. I would replace him w/ Neil Young.

Are you talking about the songs from Graceland?
