With all this bro country now, the good guys are getting buried deeper with all the crap on today. I'm going with David Allan Coe and Dwight Yoakum.
Coe is extremely talented, often overlooked cause he's controversial. Yoakum has an original style. Find myself listening to these guys alot

Fairly recent. Not back to the 60s
Him and Yoakum both had their time in the 80s

Alan Jackson is a legend and a national treasure and it’s like everyone has forgotten about him already.

Jamey Johnson. He's a really good songwriter and singer but doesn't seem to get a lot of attention. He's kind of like a Great Value Chris Stapleton.

So 90s country counts as recent?
I'd say Gary Allan. You couldn't pay me to listen to new country so I have no input if that's the time frame.

Very under the radar singer. Many of the Texas musicians are diamonds waiting to be discovered. Max Stalling and his wife Heather are in that same crowd. Heather's group Blacktop Gypsy is worth a listen also.

Used to go see Max at Son's Of Herman back in the 90s. Haven't listened to him much lately. Need to put him on my list.

Love Max Stalling. Bought his album because I heard “Runnin’ Buddy” on the radio while on a road trip, and the whole album was solid.
