I don’t think he is a great guitar player, but he has at least written some great and memorable riffs. Style is also hard to replicate. But I think that’s a good recipe for being on this list.

The hate for the Edge is palpable but ridiculous.
He is a musician who has created interesting and wildly popular sounds from his guitar rig for 40+ years. He is not EVH, but he was never trying to be that. He plays in service of the song.
Played in a cover band with a great guitarist who idolized EVH. Regardless of the artist every song sounded like a different version Eruption. It was exhausting and not enjoyable.
Also, these threads bring out the guitar snobs who really only value a certain style of playing.

Morello has written some incredible guitar hooks, and I love the effects he uses.
