Is this pretty much the standard price for big venue concert tickets now?

RHCP and The Strokes in Orlando next month, Camping World Stadium, cheapest seats are $91, floor tickets are around $500.

Last big concert I did was '09, Muse and U2 in Raleigh when they were doing the spaceship tour, and I think we got really good seats , not floor, for maybe $60-70.

Not complaining, just curious if this is how it is now. I priced Saints tickets for the game in Tampa last year and was equally surprised.

Yeah, I saw Tool twice in 2019, and they priced about the same back then too.

Seems like it. Want to say last time Tool came to Smoothie Center tickets at the top were over $100. Prices for Springsteen’s upcoming arena tour are crazy stupid, sitting behind the stage will still be over $100

One thing I’ve noticed is that you see tickets on third party sites go for less than face value because the tickets are way over priced. People aren’t going to spend $70 for lawn seats to see a mid tier band like My Morning Jacket. I snagged great seats for well under face value in that instance.

But yeah, I have 2 tickets to see RHCP and it’s the most I’ve ever spent on a concert.

For big name acts absolutely. 100 bucks might get you in the door but you are all the way in the back of the uppers

If you're ok with that its not bad but getting anything decent you better be ready to pay

It’s the fees.

It is absurd. Those my morning jacket tickets before fees would have been $38. After fees, $65.

Those "fees" are all bullshite to hide the real cost. Everyone is going to get paid whether they charge $65 and no fees or $38 and $27 fees. One way will get you to click through all the way to the cart. At least now you're pissed at ticketmaster and not the band.

I was just about to type exactly this. It's getting insane and those were arena tickets on the side of the stage at the top of the lower bowl, then bottom of the upper deck.

I love concerts, but it's ridiculous to pay this much money to go to one. This new norm of ticket prices is beyond greedy, but people continue to shell out the money for them anyway. I don't get it.

Garth Brooks is a punchline but his tour is all $90 a ticket with fees, just pay tax

Front row or last row

High but reasonable. He's also a bona fide superstar of music, so it shows just how honorable he is for not jacking up those prices. I'm saying this as someone who thinks he's an absolute douche, so yeah props to him.

Until people stop shelling out money for these ridiculous prices dictated by these hypocritical "save the poor" loud mouth singers, they will continue to fleece us for 90 minutes of our time. It's obnoxious.

No way I'd pay over $100 to see anybody.

When Morgan Wallen played Lafayette this year, people were paying up to $800/ticket IIRC. That's insane.

I feel like I paid more in fees than the face value for Billy Joel.

They CAN be, but I bought 3 tickets for the Baltimore show, 2nd level, dead center facing the stage, a few rows up for $79+ fees.

YMMV.

Standard stupidity. Especially in a terrible giant venue. The Artists are playing mega venues so they can do 1 show and make more money than doing 5 quality smaller venues. Not interested in that experience.

Heard recently that venues/promoters are tired of losing $$$$ to after markets. Charging the after market price up front. If it kills those website criminals I am all in favor. Prices will right size to demand.

That's part of it, but it's entirely possible to both cut out the scalpers AND keep the price reasonable.

Pearl Jam does it for every tour.

For most shows, scalpers purchase all the tickets immediately, and create a constructed supply constraint. FOMO leads some people to pay the dumb price - which enters the feedback loop of what "market price" is, and off you go.

Same phenomenon has made its way to the sports card market.

They could solve this easily by going back to tickets sold at an in-person venue and limit their transferability.

You want to go see Springsteen? Go stand outside the Superdome box office, and buy tickets on the on sale date for whatever arena. At least the scalpers would be forced to throw people at the tickets, instead of code.
