They think she's attractive, and she hasn't done or said anything that politically annoys them yet.
It's just radio country, complete with the same rural pandering lyrics about farms, trucks, and Texas that you can find anywhere

We learned You Look Like You Love Me last week and played it at a gig Saturday night. Crowd loved it. They went nuts when they heard us start to play it. I guess we'll have to learn that Texas song. I've not heard it.

Now, I've only heard the one song, but when I think of traditional country vs new radio country, I look at the song structure. New radio country is basically 2 or 4 chord pop and the rhythms are played more like a pop, rock, or blues song. The structure of the song she does that I learned is very much a traditional country strong structure. But as I've learned some newer country stuff over the last 4-5 years, I've noticed that the female artists do more of the traditional country style than the male artists.

Well, yeah, people like music that is relatable. Stereotypes exist for a reason. I think many folks just have a disdain for anything they view as "too popular".

I realized how big she had hit when I was at a small town festival and a local band of older musicians performed Choosin' Texas and the crowd loved it.
As for your comment about the traditional structure, it's pretty apparent when older couples can get up and dance to it.
I guess I like her because I'm not tired of her songs yet after a few months of hearing them everywhere.
Newer country music seems a whole lot bigger with 20 and 30 somethings than it was when I was in those age brackets. We actually just got a new, packed dancehall in a part of Houston where I never thought I'd see that again.
