I think Andy Summers is under-appreciated by many people…

Came up with chords from outer space
and could be rhythmically complex.
Agree, Disagree?

Hell all 3of The Police were just amazing talents
Andy Sumers gets the least attention
Walking on the Moon might be my favorite of his
Omegaman...

underrated by people, but not by people who actually play guitar.

That band was on top of the world for a long time. Rarely heard over the air today.

Very underrated. So unique in his approach and filled so much musical space with so little. He often didn’t play a lot, but played interesting parts in the perfect space. Also, the solo on Driven to Tears is insane!

Andy Summers is a pro’s pro. Having been in a pop band, though they were incredibly successful, he doesn’t get near the recognition he deserves. He’s also had a great career after the band broke up including a lot of movie work.
It’s important to note that he had to deal with Sting and Stewart. They probably wouldn’t have lasted more than a couple of albums without Andy’s steadiness and focus. He was a bit more emotionally mature to put it mildly.

I saw The Police live before they got huge at the Orpheum in Memphis. This was Andy’s secret sauce for his sound:
‘63 Telecaster Custom through a Roland JC-120.

Definitely agree
Sting hated "Behind My Camel" (a Summers solo instrumental composition) so much that he refused to play on it and tried to keep it off "Zenyatta Mondata".
Stewart Copeland wasn't much of a fan either.
It only won a Grammy for best instrumental rock piece.

The Police were one of the rare bands where all the members could switch instruments and they would still be a great band.
