What kind of animal downvoted my post about Christopher Cross 'Sailing'?

maybe "expanded" taste over the years. early on, it was classic rock or nothing.
Added hair/metal later on
then "alternative" in the 90s
hasn't changed from that in probably 25 years

My music listening began with Beatles and British Invasion lasting thru the mid-70’s. There is the random 80’s and 90’s stuff. For the past few years I am into big band and Vegas style performances like Sinatra and Martin. Especially live recordings. Those people had talent. There were no monitors, in-ears or studio fixes. Just walk out and sing to the live band.

What do you consider punk?
Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Buzzcocks, 999. I do like “angry noise”. Viagra Boys, Amyl and the Sniffers and Sleaford Mods are current angry groups I like. Also Starcrawler.
quote:I like them as well but would technically classify them as New Wave.
Blondie, Talking Heads, Joy Division
I guess Outlaw Country would be a new taste as I’ve aged.

I'm not familiar with the female fronted metal you listed and may have to give them a listen. What do you think of this original? As I type this I am recording the audio. Romina Apostol fronting one of my favorite guitarist's bands. I think Andrei is extremely talented and has had the ambition and initiative to not only play various styles of music but to also build a recording studio from scratch in his garage and now at the age of 19 produce twelve recordings per week for various other artists. Their videography is getting better and more creative as well, shooting parts of this in an abandoned train yard.

I am 65, have between 8-10,000 albums & CDs. Still enjoy everything I ever bought over the past 50+ years. Yes, some music may not be as fresh as it sounded in 1973, but still sounds better than anything today. I have gone thru so many stages- psych, pop, metal, funk, soul, punk, reggae/dub, jazz, blues, fusion, grunge, indie, etc. I have soften as well thru the years, I will now listen to stuff I felt was lame back in the day. But at the same time, I can relax & listen to thrash metal just as much as new indie music. But my current favorite music? Thanks to You Tube, I am finding so many 60's psych bands & 70's prog bands, mostly European, that I missed for one reason or another. Actually, for someone that has 'lived' music most of his life, I am so disappointed I missed out on so much!!

of course

I grew up in the 60s with the British Invasion. Gravitated into hard rock with Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and early Grand Funk, etc.
Classic Rock will always be my go to music.
I have grown fond of Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, the Turnpike Troubadours, Zach Bryan, Cody Jinks, and the Steeldrivers.

I started listening to 40’s a few years back
That’s surprising to me

In my 50's now. All hard rock and metal til about 2010. Been on a big "new" southern rock and old school country kick since then. Blackberry Smoke, Cody Jinks, Whiskey Myers, Billy Strings, etc. Still guitar driven.

I think we all do.
For sure.

You start with the music you loved in your prime. 17-25 or so. You listen to that for a while. Then switch to stuff from childhood.
In my case I didn't switch, per se. I still listen to the stuff I dug in my formative years. However, my tastes broadened to include things like funk, soul, blues, even some country. That said, my bread and butter is still prog rock, fusion and Steely Dan.

Just the opposite.
Find myself locking in tighter on music I like and less interested in new stuff (sans Greta Van Fleet).

I experience a perpetual change in musical taste.

Yes.
Once I hit college I began to seek music out on my own more. Before, I liked what my friends / family liked mostly, which was Alternative Rock and G-Funk era rap. After that, I got into all kinds of other stuff - indie, prog, metal, electronic.
I hated country music for the longest time, but as of about 8 years ago, I've grown to like a lot of outlaw country and americana, thanks to this board.
