Too lazy to look it up but I actually dug the early 80s techno Neil Young.
I loved Sample and Hold.

Calm down children... That has to be the title of some obscure 80s alt rock song right?

Don't Tell Me You Love Me - Night Ranger.
Twin guitar solos from Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson are outstanding.

Lush - Ladykillers
That's an interesting choice. Lush was probably my favorite band in the 1990s. I saw them at Tipitina's in 1994. It was a really good show. I waited to meet them afterwards and Chris Acland was very kind to me.
I had very mixed feelings about that last album, where Ladykillers was "the big single." I liked parts of it, but I also considered it their "sellout" album. This is probably an alien concept to people now, since we're in an era in which up-and-coming artists spell their names with dollar signs replacing the letter S. It was still a big concern in 1996.
My brother bought that album and ended up throwing it out the window of a moving car.

On this day in 1985, Kate Bush released “Running Up That Hill" - the lead single from her fifth studio album “Hounds of Love”

1980s:
Lou Reed New Sensations
Primal Scream I'm Losing More Than I'll Ever Have
Solid Space 10th Planet
That Solid Space album is a real gem from the 80s. Released on cassette.
1990s:
Soul Coughing Circles
R.L. Burnside Shake Em On Down (Oxford, MS)
Smog Held

The The has some great songs.
I forgot how much I loved this one
I remembered thinking back then what a weird band name. Was it stupid or genius? Probably both
I’ll add this song I forgot about
T’Pau- Heart and Soul

I am going to give you one from the early 70's
Looking Glass - Brandy
You will rarely hear me say this but this cover is better than the original.
Big Head Todd and the Monsters

That was one of the first songs that came to my mind seeing this thread.
Seems like there were a bunch of Brit/Aussie bands putting one song on the US charts in that 86/87 time frame never to be heard from again. I remember middle school me listing to
Breathe - Hands to Heaven
and Icehouse - Electric Blue
