Spoiler, he made it all up. He got the hat for free with the purchase of an extra large dreamcatcher from a flea market in Amarillo. He saw it sitting between the plastic swords, rubber band shooters and beef jerky

Anecdotal story is anecdotal: passing through Chitina, Alaska, which is like Bawcomville with better scenery. We stopped at the "It'll Do Cafe." We were the only ones in the place. We had a bowl of chili and left. Later on I told someone where we ate lunch. Their eyes got big and said it was a biker hangout. So if some bikers were there and I was wearing a cowboy hat that could have been me.

Never liked his music but respect the hell out of Ledoux, guy made 20 albums even without a major hit song. All while being a professional rodeo rider.
