You are wrong. Garths bigger songs let's use "The Dance" for example..were already written by somebody else. When Garth got popular, he could claim part of the writing credits, he's not the only one who did that, it's an old practice by popular artists.
Singles from his first two albums that Garth wrote or co-wrote:
Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old) with Randy Taylor
If Tomorrow Never Comes with Kent Blazy
Not Counting You
Unanswered Prayers with Pat Alger and Larry Bastian
The Thunder Rolls with Pat Alger
Singles from the first two albums he didn't write:
The Dance
Friends in Low Places
Two of a Kind, Workin' on a Full House
So of his first 8 singles, he had a hand it writing 5. Of those five, three went to #1, one went to #2, and the other (Much Too Young) made top 10, peaking at #8. Not too bad.

I can't stand country music in general. But I LOVE "looooong neck bottle" and " friends in low places".

I liked his music in the early 90's. Went and saw him in concert a couple of times.
Most of his music has not held up well over the years though. From that era, I find Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Reba, and a few others to have held up better.
And yeah, he's a pretty big douchebag.

Name one song of his that is really, and I mean really, a country standard that should stand the test of time?
Only one I can think of is Much Too Young(To Feel This Damn Old).

I can tell you for a fact, back at that time, I would have gladly given 1/2 of a song, to a new artist who had a major label deal. Anything to get credit for a cut. It happened in Nashville all the time.

great entertainer.
didn't write a note or word of music.

I like when he acts all humble and surprised that people showed up for a concert. I laugh every time. That fake shite never gets old.

I don't value him much as a musician. He's a very good entertainer. That said, if you you told me a really good Garth Brooks impersonator was more talented and a better artist than Garth Brooks I probably wouldn't argue.
I do enjoy most Garth music. Some of it may be nostalgia, but generally it's just fairly fun and mindless without being culturally obnoxious (like bro country).

Did you ever see him feign surprise when another star joins him in stage?
It's sickening.
It's sickening.

Alan jackson is better than Barth Brooks.

The guy was just a right place, right time guy. He - and Nashville - took advantage of a dying rock scene, stole all of their big concert tricks and applied them to a country show. Garth could work a mic, but his music frankly sounds like a reel of variety canned music with a twang stuck on for good measure. He ushered in the modern Nashville sound, which is trash.

You're going get responses from the most discriminating of music fans. It's become popular to make fun of artists like Garth Brooks - and I'm not sure why that's so except that he hit it big and gained a backlash. I wouldn't trust any of the haters for an honest opinion on whether he's good or not.

He changed country forever. I had a blast at the Honkey Tonk in Monroe. A lot of my preppy friends went out and bought wranglers and black and white western shirts. I have seen more concerts than many and he is definitely too 5. His energy is awesome.

Trisha looks like she'd be fun in the sack. She'd provide warmth in the winter and probably cooks better than most. I've gotta disagree with you, here.
I saw Garth live at the P-Mac on his "Sevens" tour. Dude's an animal on-stage. His showmanship's second to none. That big mo' fo' was moving all around the stage in them tight-arse jeans like a man half his size. Good times.
