Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were still the founding members of the band. Why change ?

I don't have a why. Bands have done it throughout music history. All I said was could have.

Tool, Chancellor, their writing definitely got more complicated and bass featured.
This one stands out for me. Justin is just the right fit. Paul wanted to be a guitarist and not play the same riffs repeatedly.

Justin took Tool's riff writing to another dimension. Pair that with his effects and complementary playing with Jones, and it's a completely different band.

Eagles with Joe Walsh and Timothy Schmidt. Dropped all pretense of country rock.

I would have just said Walsh. Only The Long Run in the classic period featured Schmidt.

The stuff since the Hell Freezes Over reunion and, particularly, the departure of Felder over a decade ago has been *ahem* "interesting".

This 100% - & the music got exponentially better in my opinion too. D'Amour was good and all, Chancellor is on another level in creativity.

I think the addition of guitarist Steve Gaines to Lynryd Skynyrd made a distinct and noticeable change to their music. Gaines only studio album with Skynyrd was Street Survivors. That album introduced fans to a new sound for the band with Steve Gaines songwriting, singing and guitar work.

Three Days Grace

“On January 9, 2013, the band announced that Gontier had left the band. They described Gontier's departure as being abrupt and unexplained.[38] The departure came just weeks before a co-headlining tour with Shinedown.[39] Gontier explained that he was simply ready to start a new chapter in his life, stating, "After twenty years of being part of an ever evolving band, I have been inspired by life, to move on and to continue to evolve on my own terms."[40] Brad Walst's brother, Matt (of My Darkest Days), became the band's new lead singer.“

He was the “voice” of the band so it definitely changed vocally very much in my book.

Widespread Panic, either iteration after Michael Houser died. The George McConnell era was particularly bad.
