My top 3 would be.

1. Chili Peppers, Fruciante and Chad Smith

2. Pantera, Anselmo

3. Tool, Chancellor, their writing definitely got more complicated and bass featured.

The Moody Blues when Justin Heyward joined.

From blues/pop to the cutting edge of the prog rock movement.

They featured bass pretty heavily on Opiate and Underow but I agree, once Chancellor came on board the band went to another level of musicianship

Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were still the founding members of the band. Why change ?

Fleetwood Mac and Journey are the answers.

I know they've already been mentioned, but I mean they stand alone as being completely different bands pre-and post- the obvious members who transformed the groups.

Although I feel like I should include Van Halen as well because I don't think it's fair to compare Sammy Hagar directly to DLR. The music was very different and propelled VH to new commercial heights.

Sammy’s VOA “rocks” more overall than Van Halen’s 1984.

I don't know. Cantrell has always been the primary songwriter. They've been pretty consistent throughout.

And there's the answer. Unbelievable musicians made their way through King Crimson.
