Attending a concert where the artist only plays songs from the latest album

Sure, I would want to hear some old stuff but with Dylan, if he does play something old, he changes the arrangement and his vocals are so bad these days that it would be unrecognizable. I'm a huge Dylan fan but have no interest in seeing him now.

This is where I stand. When I first saw he was going to be here my first thought was “don’t you have to see BD”. I’ve bern to concerts by Paul McCartney and Gordon Lightfoot in recent years and was not disappointed in their vocals at either. I just can’t pull the trigger unless I can say I heard BD sing “Like A Rolling Stone” or other oldies live.

I would skip it. I was in the same boat as you in that I am not really a big BD guy but like some of his songs. I also wanted to simply check that box off my list so went to see him 10 years ago and it was awful. And that was a decade ago, likely even worse now which is almost hard to believe. Zero energy, zero effort. He practically gets wheeled out there he's so old, he sits in one place and mumbles his way through some songs you can't even understand whil the crowd sits silent, then its over. Terrble. And for what? If people ask me "hey have you ever seen bob dylan?" i can go "yeah". But so what? What does that get me?

Wow! so in summary, he's not motivated by the music and doesn't gaf about putting on a great show for his fans to enjoy. Basically he's just cashing in. He should just retire for that reason.

Also, I don't get why artists at that age just don't retire. They are rich enough to live without performing or recording for the rest of their lives. Live life, have fun. Elton John comes to mind also. They are filthy rich, just relax and enjoy retirement and family.

I follow Peter Cetera on IG. The guy has been retired for over 3 years, spends his time with family and enjoying the outdoors at the mountains near his home in Idaho. He hikes, rides mountain bikes, goes sight seeing, posts selfies outdoors, etc. That's a smart guy enjoying life.

Annoying as hell. Dylan is wise enough to know that his material of the last few decades has not hit with his audience.

Is this a normal thing for him? I saw him at Jazzfest in 2006 or 2007 and he pretty much did the same thing...only new stuff outside of 1 or 2 songs...and he sounded awful. I was very disappointed.

Saw Paul McCartney in 2013 and he was 70 then. Dylan was like 65 when I saw him. But Paul sounded amazing and his set was probably 95% of his hits with Beatles, Wings, and solo, with a couple songs from his new album.

Holy sh!t, just take a look at these reviews. Even his most loyal fans are disappointed. Wow!

All anyone wanted to hear was Sledgehammer but he never touched it. It was all 'world music' with African instruments.The encore was In Your Eyes but it was hardly recognizable because it was played with his world music peeps.

Save your money. Bob Dylan is awful live.

I've seen a couple shows where they played the entire new album, but they played some other songs too. Never been to a show where it was JUST the new album and nothing else...
