I wanna road trip with this guy
Metallica seems like an easy answer. Deep discography, a few different eras/flavors to choose from to keep things fresh.

I love Modest Mouse but don't love them as a road trip band,
Interesting. This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon and Antarctica scream road trip albums to me.

I know, I know, I should live them as road trip tunes.

Red Hot Chili Peppers is my “go to” travel music!

I'm going to be contrarian and go with the Boss: The Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle, Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River, Nebraska, and Born in the USA should clock in right about five hours. Talking Heads are one album too short. Elvis Costello: My Aim is True, This Year's Model, Armed Forces, Get Happy, Trust, (skip Almost Blue), and Imperial Bedroom. Road trip w/ weed...Bob Marley: Catch A Fire, Burnin, Natty Dread, Rastaman Vibration, Kaya, Survival.

Probably Steely Dan just for the volume. Teenage Fanclub would be up there though.

I'd pick two crunchy Phish shows. Done.
