I don't care. Is she of Greek or Egyptian ancestry? If not, then she has no business playing this role. If Hollywood won't let white actors even voice ethnic characters anymore, then black actors shouldn't be playing people who in real life weren't black. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Egypt is pretty sunny. I’m sure cleopatra got a tan.

And she was a famous public figure who was widely reported on and we have a reasonably good idea what she looked like due to do contemporary depictions.

Folks act like this is a serious fact in dispute. Almost none of North Africa and the Levant, during this ancient (but historically documented) era would be considered traditionally "black" by the standards of their day or today. Many hues of brown, certainly. Egypt was a melting pot because of the Nile's reach.

But Cleopatra being "black" or Hannibal being "black" is blackwashing. There is plenty of authentic "black" history from the continent. It just isn't popular/isn't likely to sell in the West. #Sorrynotsorry
