Considering the debate about TLJ at this point in the run is about if the movie sucked or not and not about theories of future episodes tells you all you need to know about this movie. I didn’t enjoy TFA a lot, but I still wondered where the story would go and could get excited for the next, now I just don’t care if they make another one.

Yeah, this is how RLM wrapped up their review saying this, and that’s pretty much the most damning thing you can say. If Episode IX was playing in the theater next door after seeing TLJ, I said that night that I would have at least waited a week before seeing it. I was ecstatic leaving TFA and wanted to know what happened next. TLJ I left in shock.

I know Justice League wasn't amazing but after seeing TLJ (and finally getting around to JL) I left the theater thinking it could have been worse. It wasn't great but at least the creators of JL had some affection for their iconic characters
JL actually did a VERY good job with the characters. The story left something to be desired.

They shouldn't have fricked it up.

Mr. Hollis said the box office take for “The Last Jedi” was more front-loaded than he had expected and said the days that holidays fell on the calendar and strong competition from other films, particularly “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” may have impacted its January gross.
Or maybe the fact that the movie sucked arse and nobody wanted to see it again. Maybe...

What absolutely “impacted it’s January gross” is the fact that they chose to basically remake the Empire strikes back, only with people of different plumbing as the main characters and make all the white males look like utter buffoons or completely hateful. Then they trumpeted their intentional bias to anyone with a pen or a microphone. This movie was never intended to be good as much as it was intended to be an SJW, screw white dudes, hippie piece of trash propaganda. And it REALLY pisses me off bc I have been a huge Star Wars fan my entire life. Screw Disney for making this movie and ruining what could’ve been one of, if not THE, best movie series reboots of all time. Lucasfilms should’ve kept it.
...plus, they messed Finn’s character plot up badly. I love that guy, and was sooo excited to see what was next in his story. They pissed a potential at a REALLY good subplot away. He needed to go on some sort of crusade instead of a stupid mission that made absolutely NO sense and was pointless! And the Rose needed more time to hone her acting skills before jumping into that big of a role.
...and I’m not even gonna touch what they did with Luke.... Holy freaking cow!!!

SJW...all that needs to be said
I mentioned this not playing well to foreign, especially foreign Asian audiences in the original thread.

And all of the film critics that gave it rave reviews should be fired.

Star Wars should never be threatened by a jumanji movie

Good. frick Disney. Their handling of this trilogy should be studied in film school as maybe the most perfect example of how to epically fail as a studio.
Saw the movie the other day. I didn't think it was terrible but the casting of every race and females in dam near every role was laughable. I say this and i have two daughters

Here’s some analysis vs Rogue One:
After it’s first 9 days, TLJ was ahead of RO by 90.5 million... as of yesterday, TLJ was ahead of RO by 90.5 million. It has grossed less than RO for the last 19 days.
Point being, it was hugely front loaded by people with high expectations with pre sales through the roof. The hype was real but without it, this isn’t even a $400 mill movie. And hype is largely dependent on previous films and source material. That’s the scary part for Disney. There will be much less hype for the next one thanks to TLJ and they shite on the source material.

I think the biggest problem here is they went into this new trilogy without a vision for the beginning, middle, and end.
This, a thousand times over. How in the hell can you pay $4 billion dollars for the most iconic franchise in movie history and then set out to produce a new trilogy and basically just wing it. Just let anyone come in and choose their own direction for their movie? Kennedy and everyone on the board should be fired for incompetence.

Yup - and I am sure much like the NFL did with their anthem denial, they'll dream up a myriad of nonsensical excuses for why the movie was poorly received when the true reasons are staring them right in the face.

Disney could have used the Zahn - Thrawn trilogy material and been set. What a screw up.

but but only the trolls are bringing down the RT score

I’m sure they will be fine and make billions
