There will be much less hype for the next one thanks to TLJ and they shite on the source material.

Is it just me, or does this sound culturally insensitive?
I frankly don't know how the Chinese people feel about the Great Wall - but I'd be a little turned off if they used, say, the Washington Monument for a promotional stunt.
Chinese people shite outside in public like dogs. I doubt stormtroopers on the great wall had an affect on the box office.

same here. the more I think about how rian Johnson intentionally drove people away from it with his fricking bat shite politics
As I've posted 100 times before, the movie sucks arse even without the politicos.

it does, thoroughly, but now i'm annoyed he did that. the other bad decisions, ok it's not his fault he's not talented, but this was an intentional choice to sabotage the movie and alienate people...and Disney let him do it
frick star wars.
frick star wars.

Not gonna lie, I had forgotten that this movie was already released. That shows my interest level in that one.

Rogue One was alright to make, but otherwise, they should not have made anymore movies to follow Return of the Jedi.
IMO, Return of the Jedi was the perfect end to Star Wars. Instead, we learned that the peace that was being fought for throughout the whole originally trilogy barely lasted and a reincarnated Empire came right back.
Also, there was no Star Wars villain that could be made that could ever top The Emperor and Vader.

They should be concerned. Rian Johnson did accomplish one thing I never thought possible...he made me uninterested in the next Star Wars movie. And he's the one spearheading this next trilogy?? My expectations have plummeted.

with attack of the clones I thought maybe it would right the ship, and with revenge of the sith I was like "I want to see how he becomes darth vader"
I don't want to see the next one and maybe would except that i'm so annoyed by the injection of social justice politics into the movie, I fall on the won't watch it side of the fence

This is important to note. Even after TPM and AOTC (which had mixed reception by the general public), there was a lot of interest on message boards on what the next film would be like. (What will an older Anakin Skywalker be like? or How exactly will Anakin become Darth Vader and How will the remaining Jedi be killed off?)
However, there seems to be little to no fan speculation out there on Episode IX, even on YouTube. By this time two years ago, there was tons of fan speculation on Episode VIII. I really think at this point that even the fan base of the saga as a whole has no clue what to think or expect going forward. I know that I don't. If your film isn't well received by the general audience, you have to at least bring a compelling reason for the general audience to want to see the next film. In that respect, TLJ definitely did not deliver.

I mean that's just not true.
Kylo and Snoke were set up to be tremendous additions to Star Wars villainy. Rian Johnson ended that.

Yup. It's really an amazing phenomenon. He managed to turn a million hard core star wars lifelong fans completely off of the franchise all together. It's impressive.

Just look at my avi, I'm so in the bag for all things Star Wars, all they have to do is make a somewhat compelling story line and I'm in. I now have ZERO interest in Solo and Episode IX.
The more I think about it, these problems started with the decision to immediately push new characters on us while including the original cast yet expecting us to treat them like afterthoughts before establishing the stories of the new characters. Luke, Han, and Leia are tGOAT trinity in movie history. You can't include them and expect the people in the theater to care more about Rey, Poe and Finn. Take that and couple it with Han and Luke being portrayed as cowards who ran from their problems, which flies directly in the face of their character developments, and you get an alienated core fanbase.
Breesus is right, this is a film school cautionary tale for years to come.
