Will Disney replace Rian for that new trilogy he was supposed to helm?

Critics love it, but that audience score is horrible. Phantom Menace had better.

And before you say “Well it made a huge profit, so they’ll keep Rian!” Rian didn’t make the profit. The Star Wars name made the profit. You can put out a Star Wars film directed by Uwe Boll and it would still make triple its production costs at the box office.

I would trust Uwe Boll more.

I don't really buy this. Something stinks. No way people who make a living analyzing movies like that pile of garbage so unanimously.

Not sure what is going on, but I suspect Disney has some sort of leverage over them. Maybe some sort of better access for positive reviews.

You can’t trust a guy who uses an “i” in “Ryan”.

Yep, wouldn't let him near my kids. Then again, you shouldn't let anybody from Hollywood near your kids.

Agreed. I can’t wait to see what he does with his new trilogy.

Besides, the “controversy” isn’t as bad as it seems right now, especially on this board. I don’t really use reddit so I can’t be for certain, but I’m starting to think Tigerdroppings is the most insufferable Last Jedi reaction spot on the web right now so if you read nothing but this board you’ll think the movie was terrible. However, I’ve read several reviews, listened to a couple of podcasts, and talked to some friends who all loved it and they felt the same way I did about the movie.

How’s how it will go relative to this board: starting with the RLM Half in the Bag review, where I think the RLM guys will “shockingly” praise the movie, the hate will slowly die down and overtime they will all come to appreciate the Last Jedi. And every single one of them will be at the theatre for all three of Rian Johnson’s trilogy films.

It wasn’t the best Star Wars movie but it was good. Many of the complaints are just fans upset their theories were not correct. Others were just silly, like wishing Finn had successfully sacrificed himself - anyone who thinks that didn’t actually understand any of the movie at all.

The folks who think it was great are just as clueless as the folks who think it is absolutely terrible.

Slightly less shrill though.

Yeah, Disney is gonna make a decision based on a RT audience score

If it will generate a "huge profit" no matter who makes it, then why would they replace Rian Johnson?

Oh, and I liked the movie, though I have issues with it. I don't believe the overall reaction is as negative as TD indicates. It's pretty much the opposite reaction on Reddit from what I've seen - mostly positive with a few dissenters here and there (who typically have valid complaints).

I hope they don’t. I liked the movie, I really like all the whining by man-babies. Go cry on Reddit and start another online petition guys!

According to RT.. according to IMDb, which has a similar number of votes, 80% liked it. It’s a worthless score, by so is RT. Cinemascore, which actually polls people at the movie theater, it got an A.. it’s lazy to just say “almost half the audience hated it” because of some votes on RT. Bottom line, the people who hate the movie are in the minority no matter how you look at it.

When I was walking out of the theater, I had no idea what to think of this movie. I don't know what I would have said to them. I probably would have given it a B right after seeing it, while now I'd give it a C-.

SPOILER******

Which part did you like better, Leia somehow surviving passed out in space and then innexplicably flying through the air into the spaceship only to pass out again and fall into a coma that didn't make any sense, or Luke dying the most cowardly "one with the force" death of all-time? For that second part, Luke should have been sliced by kylo ren only to disappear, like Obi-Wan.

Is it the worst movie ever? By no means. Is it worth of the 93% critics score? Not even close.
