Grow up and get over it. That has nothing to do with lower theater attendance unless you have the attention span of a 5 year old.

I will not simply accept it if that’s your point. And neither will millions of others, which is why the theaters are hurting. They can’t control which movies get made, but they can make accommodations for the audience. If they want to.

And sitting in a theater for over three hours for anything less than a top tier movie isn’t going to cut it.

Went to see f1 this past summer. First time in the theater in a few years. 45 minutes of ads and previews. By the time the movie started I was exhausted. Theater was also in poor condition. Just no care or upkeep.

I feel like 5 previews was pretty standard back in the day. It has doubled.

Previews for upcoming movies don’t bother me, the commercials can eat a dick though. What is killing theaters is the price to attend vs how long people have to wait to stream it. It used to be you could pay 10 now or find it in blockbuster in 6 months. Now it’s pay 40 today or watch it in 2 weeks on your couch.

Been to a number of ATL area theaters and without question the worst one was at the most bougie of shopping centers, Avalon in Alpharetta. Trash all over, upholstery all worn and tore up. It was ridiculous. I had seen Interstellar back when it came out, place was great. Saw Godzilla Minus 1 and I felt like I was in a 3rd world country.

Unless there is some trailer attached that we want to see, if a movie starts at 8, we show up at 8:20 nowadays every time.

The only time to avoid that is if you have an indie movie, Angel Studios, or Fathom Events. This usually only have one or two trailers attached.

I almost made that mistake at a midnight premier showing, I think it was LOTR, and walked in right as the movie had started.

This thread brought back some fond memories. Growing up, the old Polk Theater phone # was 388-1972. Our home number was 388-1927. If you were unfortunate enough to misdial and either my brother or I answered, you were NOT getting the information you wanted! My parents/my sister tried to do the right thing, but my brother and I made up stuff on the fly!

I'll go when there's a big movie I want to see. Some movies are just better in the theater setting with the big screen and great sound. I don't think that can really be recreated at home.

Some gaslighting jerkoffs in this thread

Stranger still, seems like just the wokies for some odd reason.

Not sure why this is a hardpoint for them, but whatever

Did they run 10 minutes of commercials for State Farm and shite then?

Because I definitely don't remember that

Every movie I've seen in the past 10 years has had ads before it. The trailers start at the designated time but the theatre has like 10 minutes or so of ads or "games" playing before the movie/trailers. Simply taking up space where there used to be a blank screen. I don't see the issue.

Too many trailers argument I get, but the ads aren't pushing the movie back at all, they are running before.

I don't mind the trailers. Especially if I'm interested in the movies in the trailers.

Yea I don't mind them either and like to be there to catch them all but when i went and saw Project Hail Mary I did find myself thinking "Can we get on with the movie already" after the 6th or 7th one was now trailers for children's movies.

The Dune trailer was pretty bad arse. People that aren't going to see that in the theatres are doing themselves a disservice.

They tell you to except the movie to start 20-30 minutes after showtime in the checkout. Just show up later.

The fact that the trailers usually start at the posted movie start time can get annoying. But, at lest if you're running late, you don't miss the movie starting.
