Why do people feel that Elsa needs to be in a lesbian relationship in Frozen 2?

Are studios starting to go too far with putting super serious themes in children's movies? I know Pixar did a lot with putting adult elements in their films and the other studios do the same, but at some point shouldn't a kids movie just be a kids movie?

The Frozen star spoke to ET on the Billboard Music Awards red carpet in Las Vegas about the recent petition, #GiveElsaAGirlfriend, which is calling for the Disney princess to have a female love interest in the sequel. The petition has been gaining some traction on the internet through the LGBTQ community.
"I think it's great," she told ET on Sunday of the online campaign. "Disney's just gotta contend with that. I'll let them figure that out."

Being gay is trendy right now.

Disney is all about money and they know pandering to less than 1% of their consumers is not a smart business move.

Why does Elsa have to have a love interest in the first place?

If there's any company out there that will not bend to the whims of dumbasses, it's Disney.

DING DING DING!
A few angry lesbos want a gay Disney star; middle America who actually keeps Disney afloat with their purchases, do not. \
The reason that the LGBT (or whatever they are going by now) attached themselves to this movie is because Elsa needed her sister not a man to make her happy. You give these people an inch they want 6 miles. Disney should go the extra step and make Elsa happily married to a man with children in the squeal.

I agree. It pretty much undermines what Frozen is all about.

if they really want to be trendy, Elsa will no longer identify with the role she was forced to take at birth, so she will be "Eddie" in the next installment.

And she gave up her powers to make her husband happy and now just cooks in the kitchen and cleans the ice castle

Frozen 2: Triggered.

Even as a child, I'd assumed that most Disney characters were gay.
Another reason why I chose to be a Warner Bros. cartoons kid.

No, this is about empowerment. Elsa has a boy toy that's half her age.

All part of the indoctrination

Isn't this the plot of the little mermaid??

Disney might want to be really careful here.

Probably because Elsa's story in the first film is clearly analogous to a gay person coming out. It's not a real subtle subtext. It's clearly in the first film, and it even explicitly locks her in her room, keeping her closeted.
Elsa has since become a gay icon (having a great song sung by a great singer certainly helps) and Disney has long been one of the more gay-friendly entertainment companies. It makes perfect sense to give Elsa a girlfriend, though I think they will likely keep her without a love interest and let the subtext remain that way. But if they do give her love interest, by the story they've created, it should be a woman.

Bugs did a little cross-dressing and man smootching buddy...
And I always thought tweety was a gay bird...
But I love Disney and WB.... all good

I think the saddest part of calling for her to be lesbian is that people can't just be comfortable with a strong female Disney character without a typical love interest.
