Who is Cavill Playing in the MCU?

So reports are he's been signed to a deal. Reports also say it's not Dr. Doom (which would have been great) and not Captain Britain (which would have flopped). So, who is it going to be?
In my opinion, this is ten years too late, but that's Cavill's luck. He'll just stack another flop up -- through no fault of his own. Just bad timing.

In all fairness, I looked at it as just clickbait, rumor mongering too until it showed up for over a week and there were several "trusted" sources adding nuance to the report.

I really think he should be doom. he would bring enough gravitas to the roll to actually carry the next few phases as the big bad.

My guess it will be some Eternals/Thunderbolts/Inhumans type of hero that no one cares about. He will be wasted.

Cavil has awful luck. The guy could have been nearly a Sly/Arnold level action star in the 90s. Now? He’s peaked, unfortunately.

If he really has a role its going to be a bigger name character IMO. So if its not Doom I'll say its an alternate universe version of one of one of the main heroes.

Brian Braddock's name has already been mentioned in Avengers Endgame. Cavill already has experience swinging a sword.

Aside from Doom, the most intriguing option I’ve seen people suggest is Scott Summers/Cyclops.
It’s a commonly held belief among fans that Cyclops, the true leader of the X-Men, has been done dirty in past incarnations where he was second fiddle to Wolverine or others.
Casting someone as recognizable as Cavill would seem to remedy this and instantly makes Cyclops a central feature of any project he’s in. Not the role I anticipated for him if so, but one I’d be excited to watch.
